John returns for his sophomore campaign after winning the starting QB job as a freshman in 2022. He threw for 1370 yards & 10 touchdowns on the season. The Lions will look to John for leadership and his experience to build on a rough 2022 season. Head Coach Mike Ewing states that “John is an incredible teammate and becoming a leader for the team. He started every game as a freshman last year and we are excited to see where he takes this program”.


Why do you play football?

I play football because it’s my favorite sport. I love to watch it, play it and to be a part of it.

What is your current GPA?

4.6 (Weighted)

What do you plan to major in upon enrolling in college? 

I haven’t decided yet?

Favorite class in school?

Math

Favorite athlete of all time and why? 

My favorite athlete of all time is Allen Iverson because he wasn’t the biggest, fastest or the strongest but he still won the MVP award.

Favorite moment thus far of your HS career?

My favorite HS moment thus far was beating Carroll 14-12.

What was the 2022 season like for you?

The 2022 season was a great learning experience for me as a freshman to grow and improve.

2023 individual & team goals? 

My 2023 individual goal is to get better every day and to help this team get better every day. The team goal is to lead my team to the playoffs.

Favorite football game to watch (Pros, College or HS)? 

Eagles Super Bowl win in 2018

Favorite meal?

Steak & Potatoes

Favorite play to run & why? 

Four verticals because there is no better feeling than throwing a long touchdown pass.

Outside of sports what are your hobbies?

I like to hangout with my friends & family.

What scares you the most?

Snakes & big spiders.

Most inspirational person in your life?

The most inspirational people in my life are my parents. My parents work so hard for me to have food on the table & obtain a great education. My parents put their needs before there’s no matter what it is. My parents push me to be the best i can be. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents.

What pregame music do you listen to as you prepare for games?

Most of my pregame playlist is 42 Dugg

Best teammate and why?

My best teammate was John Shelton who was a senior last year. He put everything on the line for our team. Shelton was one of four captains who showed great leadership on and off the field.

Did you play little league football? If so for what organization(s)? 

Yes, I played for Annunciation from 3rd to 6th grade, and then I finished by playing for St. Dots my 8th grade year.

What is something folks should know about Cardinal O’Hara the school, the players & coaches?

Cardinal O’Hara is a great place to grow and learn. The coaches are very knowledgeable, supportive, and great at teaching us the game. As a freshman coming into the varsity locker room the football players were very encouraging and helpful with the transition from grade school.

Cheesesteaks or Hoagies & what restaurant has the best sandwich? 

Cheesesteaks from Larry’s Steaks.
