District 12 4A Championship Game Preview

The District XII 4A championship will the third consecutive city title game for both Bonner-Prendie (CL Champ) and Bartram (PL Champ). The Bonner Friars earned their title berth via their 31-7 win over Cardinal O’Hara last weekend while Bartram stamped their ticket with a 34-8 win over HS of the Future.

Bonner-Prendie: The Friars enter the championship game 7-2 and average just under 21 points per game. The defense has been pretty stout as well giving up around 10 points per game. Offensively Sr. RB Avery Hankey has been the catalyst for their success (839 yards rushing & 5 total touchdowns) while Mick Johnson (445 yards & 3 TDs) and Sr. Isaiah Sessions (349 yards & 7 TDs) also contribute to their rushing attack. They utilize two freshmen quarterbacks in Kenjai Gatling (665 yards & 8 TDs) & Noel Campbell (419 yards & 7 TDs). The leading receivers are Jr. Jalil Hall (399 yards & 6 TDs) & Jeremiah Coleman (371 yards & 3 TDs). Defensively they’re led by Penn State commit Sr. LB/DE Malachi Williams (11 sacks), Mick Johnson (2 interceptions, 4.5 sacks & 47 tackles) and Isaiah Sessions (55 tackles).

John Bartram: The Braves enter the DXII 4A title game with a 6-3 record. They’re led by Sr. Athlete Jahmi Hargrove who filled in at quarterback for most of the season but is now back to his natural tailback position. Jr. Samad Robinson is the top signal caller again and has a blindside protector in Sr. Mohamed Coulibaly. Bartram Senior WR Haleem Butler will be counted upon to stretch the defense and he also doubles as a starting CB.

Previous meeting: These two teams met in the District XII 4A title game in 2022 with Bonner winning 53-8. They also met in 2021 with Bonner also winning 29-8 in a game that was closer than the final score would indicate.
