Lansdale Catholic DB Yeboa Cobbold Jr. had one division 1 offer heading into the camp season. That was all he needed. He committed to the Akron Zips just 6 or 7 weeks later. “I chose to commit early because I didn’t want to go into my last season stressing over the process of picking the right college” said Cobbold Jr. of why he folded his recruitment and committed to the Zips.

Head Coach Dominic D’Adonna says “Akron is a very good choice for him. His first official visit and offer. He liked what he saw. It’s a good spot for him. I think he’s a very explosive type player. They’re gonna use him at DB I guess. He played both ways for us, best athlete on our team”.

We caught up with Yeboa to find out what went into his decision:

PFN: Who was your biggest influence there, who recruited you?

I was recruited by Coach Bishop Neal who I have known since my freshman year.

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?

Akron is getting a versatile athletic playmaker, with good ball skills and big play abilities.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?

It was stressful at times but I enjoyed talking to different coaches during the process.

PFN: What position were you recruited for?

Defensive Back

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

Business

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?

My parents played a big role in the decision they where with me during all of my visits and they gave me advice during the recruiting process.

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the Akron program?

Akron has good experience coaches that I’m gonna be able learn from and reach my full potential.

PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for the Zips?

I can’t wait to compete and get better on the college level.

PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:

I used to sing at my church

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

My dad he played football in college and at a young age he taught me a lot.

Why do you play football?

Most of the men in my family played football and i grew up loving the sport.

What would you do to improve the recruiting process?

I would have more scholarships for just high school players.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

To my teammates thank you for always pushing me at practice and workouts and I can’t wait to have this final season with you guys. To my coaches thank you for developing me and teaching me the game throughout my career. And to the LC fans thank you for always showing up for the team and always bring the energy.
