Philadelphia Public League Thursday and Friday games cancelled

The Philadelphia Public League has made the decision to halt all Thursday and Friday football games due to the excessive heat wave. With temperatures this week being stuck between 90-96 degrees the school district decided to dismiss schools early all week and today made the call to cancel the games. One unique thing about the league is not all schools are public schools there are a handful of charters who play within the league but don’t necessarily follow the school district rulings as they are independently owned. Imhotep, Boys Latin, Belmont and Kipp DuBois are all independent charter schools.

At the current moment Imhotep is still scheduled to host Archbishop Spaulding Saturday at 2pm while Belmont Charter is scheduled to travel to Cardinal O’Hara Friday evening at 7pm. Archbishop Carroll (1-1) @ Simon Gratz (1-1) 07:00 PM is also still on the schedule as Simon Gratz is now a Charter school. Northeast @ Archbishop Wood at Tennant HS is also still on for Saturday at 1pm. Check in at PaFootballNews.com for any more scheduling updates. The following Thursday and Friday games are currently cancelled:
