While Prep’s offense seemed slow and didn’t look like themselves, the defense was playing at an elite level the entire game. With two early turnovers on offense and giving the ball up in scoring position, SJP should’ve been down big. A superior defensive line, flying linebackers, and sealed tight coverage caused numerous sacks and multiple missed opportunities for La Salle. “We didn’t communicate as well as we should have then it took us a little second to get going,” Samaj Jones said.

Coming into the game, it was a big game for both sides. Rivalry Week. The two teams have gone back decades in playing each other and this is a big day for both sides. “It’s the biggest game of my life. You know it’s only the biggest game of my life because it’s the next one, and La Salle’s a great team but we have a mission and when we looked at our mission we didn’t look at our schedule.” Jones said.

Jr. Isaiah West was a name that stood out today in the game, two-touchdown performance with over a hundred and fifty total yards, there was definitely something on his mind. “I just want to play my hardest everyday man, of course it’s the rivalry game and all that but it’s the most important game because it’s the next game,” West said. Listed at three positions (WR, FB, and RB) West has a lot expected out of him. “I’m all about being versatile, Imma do whatever my coach asks me to do,” West said. Prep focuses on watching film at every given chance, finding and exploiting the weakness in La Salle and that was the main goal coming in. “We saw weakness in the defensive backs, we wanted to press the perimeter, we wanted to get on ’em and I think we did that today” West said.

With Prep up 21-0 and only thirty seconds in the half, a kneel would’ve been the ideal play for everyone. But Prep decided to take the chance and took three straight shots toward the endzone hoping something would connect. With a pass to Rahmeir Hardy towards the sideline and Hardy doing the rest finding his way into the endzone, Prep went into the lockers up 28-0 and all momentum on their side. “It was more or so like 20-30 second drive and two-minute drill operation you know, you wanna get the ball out quick not take any sacks, waste any time. The first two shots were out of the endzone and the third one ended up being a big one for us,” Jones said.

La Salle heads back home to get ready to take on Archbishop Wood next Saturday at 1:00 PM. With the tough loss and falling to .500 on the season, Wood is a must-win game for La Salle so don’t expect them to hold back. For Prep, They get their fifth straight win and continue to dominate northeast teams. They get ready to face Father Judge next Friday at home at 6 PM and hope to extend the winning streak to six.
