Will Howard had quite the day. The sophomore back rushed for 242 yards on 21 carries and found the endzone 3 times to lead Springside Chestnut Hill to a 27-14 win at Abraham Lincoln high school.  The Blue Devils scored on their second possession of the day to go up 7-0. It was also Howards first td run of the day as he sprinted 42 yards on a one play drive. Throughout the day Lincoln had to battle from deep in their own territory as Rothschild belted the ball on kickoffs and Liam Zelman punts that gave the Railsplitters an average starting position of the 20 yard line.

Following a bad punt attempt by the Railsplitters, the Blue Devils struck again needing just 24 yards in this drive. Howard went in from 12 yards out to make it a 14-0 lead at the 2:41 mark of the first quarter. Both teams then battled back and forth. Lincoln went on a long drive and reached the Blue Devil 4 yard line but a holding penalty and two sacks pretty much ended any hope of a Railsplitter score.

The Blue Devils took over on their own 18 and put together a nice drive, reaching the Lincoln 13 yard line. They were unable to punch the ball into the endzone so James Brenan-Rothschild came out and kicked a 27 yard field goal to put Springside Chestnut Hill up 17-0. Johnny Nosal intercepted a pass by Kareem Moore to set up Brenan-Rothschilds next field goal from 38 yards out giving the Blue Devils a 20-0 lead with 9:33 left in the first half.

Lincoln finally found the scoreboard with an 80 yard drive. Terrance Page had a 23  yard run and Moore connected with Nehemiah Coston for a nice 38 yard td connection with 7:34 left in the third quarter. The 7 play drive made it a 20-7 game.

It took just two plays for the visiting team to respond. Howard took the ball, headed to the right and cruised down the sideling 88 yards to put the Blue Devils up 27-7.

This insane catch by Coston closed out the scoring;

Blue Devil head coach  said “He’s only 15 years old, he’s got a great pedigree. I actually went to school with his father” when asked about Howards day. “He has that olympic pedigree. His dad was an olympic sprinter. He didn’t do a ton for us last year but he just worked so hard for us in the off season”.
