20 teams from all around the state entered Saturday’s 7v7 tournament at Whitehall, the school just 4 miles down the road won it all.

3rd-seeded Allentown Central Catholic took down 5th-seeded North Schuylkill in the finals to cap off a dominating day for the Vikings.

The Vikings received a first-round bye after going undefeated in seeding games and were matched with 19-seeded Hazleton out of District 2. QB Kyle Fleshman connected with receivers Jareel Calhoun and Nasir McLean multiple times’ en route to an easy victory.  The Vikings then drew 6-seeded Norte Dame-Green Pond who defeated 11th-seeded Saucon Valley. Kyle Fleshman completed multiple passes to the flats and the speed on the outside was too much for Green Pond as the Vikings moved on. Central Catholic then took on 2nd-seeded Emmaus in the semifinal who had just beaten Whitehall. The Vikings battled back and forth before pulling away from their divisional rival securing their spot in the finals.

QB Trevor Minalda and North Schuykill were a problem from the opening match. The Spartans went undefeated in seeding games earning them the 5th seed and a date against 12th-seeded Easton. The QB, WR duo of Trevor Minalda and Joey Flail were too much for Easton in the opening match as they connected multiple times in the win. The Spartans then drew 4th-seeded Souderton Area out of District 1 who defeated 20th-seeded Palisades. Minalda accuracy to fit the ball in tight windows was too much for the Indians as the Trojans marched to the semifinals against top-seeded Jersey Shore out of District 4. The Bulldogs got to the semifinal game with wins over 16th-seeded Pennridge out of District 1 and 9th-seeded Parkland out of District 11. In a back-and-forth battle, the Trojans edged out a win over the top-seeded Bulldogs setting up a date with Central Catholic.

In a tightly contested game, the size and speed of the Central Catholic receivers on top of great throws by Kyle Fleshman proved to be too much as the Vikings defeated the Spartans crowning them the 2023 champs.
