Lake- Lehman defeated Wyoming Area 47-26 Friday night in Exeter in front a predominant Warrior crowd. The three-headed monster of QB Ethan Adams, RB Ryan Eiden, WR Jacob Monko proved to be too much for the defending 3A state champs.
The Black Knights wasted no time exhibiting their adroitness by scoring on the second play of the game, when Ethan Adams hit Jacob Monko for a 68 yard touchdown pass, setting the tone for an exciting, but disappointing, night for the Warriors.
Undaunted by the Black Knights quick score, the Warriors put together a solid drive on their first possession that ended with a 25 yard touchdown pass from QB Jacob Williams to RB Leo Harris. The extra point failed. And with 7:18 remaining in the first quarter Wyoming Area trailed 7-6.
The Blacks Knights put together another drive and in less than two minutes extended their lead to 13-6 when QB Ethan Adams ran 15 yards for a touchdown. The extra point failed with 5:38 remaining.
After a set of Warrior downs and a series of missteps on both sides, Lake -Lehman found themselves punting in their own end zone. The punt was blocked by Jayden Rusen, who also recovered it for a touchdown. With 50 seconds left in the first quarter the score was tied 13-13.
Before the end of the first quarter, Lake- Lehman would score again when Adams hit Monko on a 50 yard pass. The two point conversion was good, and the Black Knights led 21-13 at the end of an action packed first quarter.
After a Warrior’s punt, the Black Knights third member of the three-headed monster, Ryan Eiden, showed his head by hauling in a 52 yard touchdown pass and subsequently running in for the two point conversion and extending the Black Knights lead 29-13, with 9:33 remaining in the second quarter.
The remaining of the second quarter proved no less exciting than the first quarter.
The Warriors would score twice: once, when Jacob Williams connected with Rocco Pizano for a 64 yard touchdown pass and then later in the quarter with only 2:23 on the clock, Drew Murk ran one yard for a Warrior score, narrowing the lead 29-26. Lake -Lehman would edge one final score in the first half when Max Paczewski nailed a 30-yard field goal, ending the first half with the Black Knights ahead 32-26,
The third quarter was scoreless with both defenses holding their ground.
The fourth quarter was all Lake -Lehman. Ryan Eiden scored a pair of game sealing touchdowns. One, on a 28 yard run. The other on a one yard fall into the end zone. When the final whistle sounded, the Black Knights had a decisive 47-26 victory over the defending Class 3A State Champs and revenged a close regular season loss from last year.
