Working the camp circuit this spring and summer, a name was being thrown around that not many had known about.  Brandon Niemenski, a 6-6, 215 pound tight end from Crestwood high school near Hazleton, PA.

Back in March Bowling Green offered the talented TE.  Then the offers started to flow in. Yale, Fordham, Albany and more. By mid June he had 10 division 1 offers, including one from UConn he received on June 23. Just about 2 weeks later he accepted that offer from the Huskies and today on twitter he announced he would be continuing his football and academic careers in Mansfield Connecticut:

We caught up with Brandon to ask him about his decision and the process:

PFN: How long have you played football?

Brandon: I’ve been playing since 2nd grade.

PFN: Why did you choose to commit to the Huskies?

Brandon: I chose to commit to UConn because it really felt like home the second I stepped in the locker room.

PFN: Why commit early?

Brandon: I committed early so I can focus on my high school team and my senior season.

PFN: Who was your biggest influence at UConn, who recruited you?

Brandon: Coach Edsall played a huge role in recruiting me.

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?

Brandon: They are a getting a player who loves competing, getting better, and will do whatever they ask of me.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?

Brandon: The recruiting process was a fun experience for me, I enjoyed meeting new people and coaches, and visiting different campuses.

PFN: What position were you recruited for?

Brandon: I was recruited as a tight end.

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

Brandon: I’m not totally sure what I want to study yet.

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?

Brandon:My parents played a big role just by supporting me 100% with whatever decision I made.

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the UConn program?

Brandon: The most exciting thing about the program is how quick they were to welcome me into the family!

PFN: Tell everyone out there in Huskie Land something they’d never know about you until you told them:

Brandon: Something Husky nation would never know about me unless I told them is I grew up a huge Steelers fan.

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

Brandon:The person who influenced me the most in my football career is definitely my mom. She is constantly pushing me to be the best play and man I can be and she supports me through everything.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school team mates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

Brandon: Something I want my high school team mates know is I’ll never forget playing with them and I can’t thank them enough for keeping me focused and helping me become the player I am today
