Welcome to November!!! You know what that means? That’s right, the days get shorter, colder and High School Football playoffs are upon us!!!! For some, the aspiration of a District or Eastern Conference Championship will come to fruition by the end of the month. For many, the dream will be dashed and some will have played their last football game for their school. We got some good matchups on the docket this week so let’s get to them, shall we?

Eastern Conference Championship

Shenandoah Valley at Nanticoke

Friday 7 PM

Shenandoah Valley comes in with a record of 2-8. Nanticoke comes in with a 4-6 record. Panthers QB Drew Campbell is throwing for 686 yards and six touchdowns on the year. He also added 635 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. Trojans RB Zach Fox is rushing for 1,056 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Both of these teams are looking to finish their season with a championship. It should be an interesting matchup with Schuylkill Valley’s Campbell being able to throw or run with the ball. Nanticoke will look to their ground game to control the clock and take the victory.

Prediction: Nanticoke 28 Schuylkill Valley 21

District 2 3A Quarterfinals

Carbondale at Wyoming Area

Friday 7 PM

Carbondale comes in as the 7 seed with a record of 5-5. Wyoming Area has an 8-1 record as the number 2 seed. Chargers RB Vincent DePalma is rushing for 1,224 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season. Warriors QB Blaise Sokach-Minnick is a Penn State preferred walk-on as a long-snapper. He has thrown for 795 yards and 12 touchdowns and has only one interception this season. Wyoming Area comes in as a heavy favorite and can potentially make a run at the District Title but the Chargers are looking to pull off the upset after the program took last year off due to COVID-19.

Prediction: Wyoming Area 28 Carbondale 14

Lake-Lehman at Lakeland

Friday 7 PM

Lake-Lehman comes in at 4-5 and is the 6 seed. Lakeland is 9-1 on the season and the third seed. Both of these teams played in Week 1 which Lakeland won handily at Lake-Lehman 41-12. This is also a rematch of last year’s District final which Lakeland also won. Black Knights RB Colby Roberts has rushed for 699 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Lehman looks to get revenge on the Chiefs after losing to them in the District Final last year and in Week 1 this season. Lakeland looks to be the dark horse in this District tournament but will they be up to a Lake-Lehman team that’s improved since Week 1?

Prediction: Lakeland 28 Lake-Lehman 27

District 2 4A Quarterfinals

Crestwood at Valley View

Friday 7 PM

Crestwood comes in as the 8th seed and are 3-7 on the season. Valley View is the top seed and is 9-1 on the season. Both of these teams played each other in Week 6 and the Cougars took a 38-7 victory. The Comets’ Noah Schultz was out last week due to injury but if he plays, he will have a major impact. The Junior has rushed for 1,051 yards and nine touchdowns this season. If he is unable to go, they will go to seniors Chase Pugh and Ethan Shudak. They have each rushed for 300+ yards on the season. Valley View RB Connor Hilling has 975 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the season. Crestwood comes in as the defending District Champion but have had a rocky season to say the least and had to win in Week 10 and get some help to even make the playoffs. The reward is top-seeded Valley View Cougars who is the heavy favorite to win the 4A District title. Will the Comets pull off the upset or will the Cougars roll?

Prediction: Valley View 35 Crestwood 7

The Mountaineers are looking to get back to their fourth straight District final but will need to win two games to get there. The Patriots are back in the playoffs after a winless 2020 season. Will the Patriots pull off the upset or will the Mountaineers get to the District semifinals?

Prediction: Dallas 28 Pittston Area 7

Valley West comes in on a four game losing streak despite making the playoffs. They are guaranteed the District 2 5A Championship by making the playoffs. East Stroudsburg South is the mostly favorite to take the Subregional but will Valley West pull off the upset and get a berth in the Subregional Final?

Prediction: East Stroudsburg South 35 Valley West 7

District 2 6A Semifinals

Wilkes-Barre Area at Hazleton Area
