Eiden off to the races

In the first four series of the game, Tunkhannock’s offense ran 12 plays and punted twice. Lake-Lehman ran three and led by 13.  Running back Ryan Eiden ran the ball twice, once for 68 yards and the second an 11 yard td run, then they hit a 59 yard scoring pass enroute to a 42-13 win. “They came out and just punched us in the face and we didn’t respond” said Tunkhannock head coach Mike Marabell. “They did what they’ve been doing to teams all year. They dominated.”

As for Eiden, he rolled to 192 yards and three tds on just 11 carries. Four of them were over 35 yards though one was called back a bit due to a hold. “Yeah, it starts with the line. They were all staying on their men and the running backs were going hard” said Black Knight quarterback Ethan Adams.  His night got rolling quickly as well.  On the third play for the Knights he found Trumbower for the 59 yard score to put Lake-Lehman up 13-0 before the thick fog dampened the ball.

Adams also had a good early start, connecting on 4 of his first 5 throws for 101 yards. One their third drive, the Knights went 64 yards on

a rare long drive, using 8 plays capped by a one yard td run from Eiden.  They hit the two point play to extend the lead to 21-0 with just 2:32 left in the first quarter.

The Tigers looked as though they were going to make a game of it in the second quarter. Jack Chilson took the ball over the line from the one to pull the Tigers within 14, then on the next Knight series he intercepted Adams at the 26.

Chilson scored from one yard out

Lake-Lehman’s defense held on fourth down. “We made our adjustments in the third quarter,” Lake-Lehman head coach Jerry Gilsky said of the slow second quarter for the Knights. “They were bringing six guys and moving guys around to get matchups,” Gilsky said. “The middle was wide open. They were taking away the side. To start the third quarter we attacked them and went right at them.” And the attack happened just as quickly as the one that started the game. On the second play of the third quarter Eisen raced 65 yards right up the middle.

Luke Spencer hauled in his second interception of the evening on the next play and returned it to the Tiger nine yard line. Adams finished the drive from four yards out. Then after the Lehman defense forced a three and out, Adams went to work quickly hitting Colby Kennedy for a big gain, then Trumbower carried the ball in  from 10 yards out to invoke the mercy rule.
