Lake-Lehman takes the victory over Nanticoke

Throughout the game, both teams had opportunities to score. However, the game was scoreless through three quarters of play. Lake-Lehman did break through with a two yard touchdown run by Colby Roberts and that’s all the Black Knights needed as they took the victory at home 15-0.

Nanticoke started their first drive after a three and out by Lake-Lehman, The Trojans drove all the way to the Black Knight 19 yard and went for it on 4th and 8 at the LL 19 but they fumbled it away and Lake-Lehman recovered. The Trojans got the ball to start the third quarter and drove all the way to the Black Knight 31 yard line but penalties and loss of yardage forced Nanticoke into a 4th and 18 and the 4th down pass fell incomplete. When asked by Nanticoke head coach Ron Bruza about the chances the Trojans had “We just couldn’t punch it in for six, mental mistakes in key moments hurt us.”

Before the end of the third quarter, Lake-Lehman pulled some trickery as Gavin Wallace would take a handoff but turned out to be a pass that was complete to Dustin Heinrich for 37 yards to the Trojan 38 yard line. Heinrich had quite an impressive game, he recovered a fumble in the first quarter, picked off a pass late in the second quarter and had the biggest and only catch of the game by both teams.

First play of the fourth quarter was a 32 yard run by quarterback Landon Schuckers to the one yard line. Colby Roberts punched it into the end zone on third and goal and the Black Knights would get two points after a botched snap on the PAT for an 8-0 Lake-Lehman lead with 10:48 remaining in the game. The Trojans reached the Lake-Lehman 46 yard line on a 4th and five but the Black Knights held Nanticoke to a no gain and would get the ball back. The Knights then sealed up the game with a 15 yard touchdown run by Colby Roberts for his second score of the game. The PAT made it 15-0 with 2:24 remaining in the game.
