PIAA Class 1A Sub Regional: Lackawanna Trail v Morrisville at Bristol

Lackawanna Trail (11-0) @ Morrisville (6-5) (Bristol HS) Friday – 7:00 pm

Lion fans are probably asking “who is Morrisville? Where is Morrisville?” Morrisville is probably asking the same of Trail. Well, Morrisville is in southeastern PA. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive, right across the border from Trenton New Jersey. The Bulldogs play a mix of teams including Jenkintown and Renaissance Academy, both of whom they’ve played twice this year. Why? There’s a severe lack of 1A teams in that area. Don’t look at that 6-5 record either. The Dogs will play tough. They’re led by record breaking running back Raymond Holman who has crossed the stripes 1,500 times and scored on 16 occasions. Quarterback Ky’iere Rankins doesn’t throw much, just 34 attempts this year completing 14 for 179 yards and 2 tds. He’s the 2 in the one two punch for the Bulldogs. He’s run for 500 yards and 10 scores. It’s not going to be an easy game for Morrisville. They haven’t seen a team like Trail all season.

For Trail, they’ve plowed through the season with nary a challenger. Their closest game was a 28-21 win over Riverside. They are also a run heavy team. Quarterback Steve Jervis and backs Lukas Gumble, Demetrius Douglas and Hunter Patterson lead a run heavy offense that is scoring an average of 43 points per game. The Lion defense is just as stout, only giving up 9 per game. This could be an eye opener for a team like Morrisville. The Lions are the real deal this year.
