Breaking down the LFC Playoff Games this weekend

PIAA District 2 Class 6A

Scranton (4-6) at Delaware Valley (7-3)  (Plays winner of Hazleton, Wilkes Barre)

Friday 7.00 PM Last meeting 2021 (Delaware Valley 35, Scranton 0)

Scranton finished off the year on a good note by rallying late in the fourth quarter to defeat Abington Heights. It’s been an up and down year for the Knights and have really struggled to stay constant, The Knights met the Warriors in week 8 and were held scoreless Charlie Thompson was their guy all season long and finished the regular season with 807 yards and 7 touchdowns. After an (0-3) start to the year, the Warriors finished the year with 7 straight wins and have looked incredible doing it. The Warriors have had a balanced attack on offense all year long, led by running back Joe Sciascia who rushed for 821 yards and 11 touchdowns, and Tight end Aiden Black who finished with 18 receptions for 307 yards and 4 touchdowns. In their week 8 matchup, the Warriors combined for 386 total yards of offense. Players to watch DV Harlem Cook WR, Scranton Bashiyr Murphy RB

PIAA District 2 Class 4A

Honesdale (4-6) at North Pocono (8-2)      (Plays winner of Dallas, Pittston Area)

Friday 7.00 PM Last Meeting 2021 (North Pocono 46, Honesdale 21)

Honesdale will look for some revenge Friday night against third-seeded North Pocono, the first meeting did not go as planned as the Hornets trailed 46-0 at halftime. The Hornets have been playing better football as of late and have won back-to-back games to finish off the regular season. The Hornets have shown a bit of both world on offense with a solid running attack by Connor Schmitt who ran for 928 yards and 6 touchdowns, and an underrated passing game led by Quarterback Aiden Collins who has thrown for 541 yards and 6 touchdowns, and wide receiver Kage Southerton who has 39 receptions for 673 yards and 7 touchdowns. North Pocono has looked incredible this season led by their tenacious defense that has forced the most turnovers in the district this season and their offense has been just as solid led by Michael Blaine who has rushed for 713 yards and 7 touchdowns and quarterback William Soma who has thrown for 838 yards and 11 touchdowns.                         Players to watch NP Ty Lafave LB, Honesdale Max Mickel FB

PIAA District 2 Class 3A

Western Wayne (4-5) at Mid Valley (8-2)       (Winner played at Scranton Prep)

Friday 7.00 PM Last Meeting 2015 (Mid Valley 26, Western Wayne 20) 

After a 2-0 start to the season, the Wildcats’ dealt with injury and have struggled since. The once high-scoring offensive has been shut out twice this season and has only scored 30 or more points in just 2 games, despite all that, the team has still had success running the ball with Luke Janiszewski who rushed for 880 yards and 9 touchdowns. Mid Valley has a great season, one of the best in the program’s history. The Spartans have had a high octane offense all year long, led by Devin Ayala who has rushed for 1,713 yards and 20 touchdowns and Cameron Riccardo who has thrown for 1,160 yards and 11 touchdowns. Players to Watch WW Nick Tomasetti RB, MV Kyle Marcinkevich WR

PIAA District 2 Class 2A

Riverside (2-7) at Lackawanna Trail (6-3)    (Plays winner of Susquehanna, Dunmore)

Friday 7.00 PM Last meeting 2021 (Lackawanna Trail 34, Riverside 0)

If u don’t count that forfeit win over Montrose the Vikings would have only won 1 game it’s been rough for the Vikes there usually air raid offense has been nullified, and their defense has not played Up to par. Reese Gaughan did all for the team this season, he was the team’s leading rusher at 280 yards and also caught 52 passes for 430 yards and 2 touchdowns. Trail on the other hand had a very good season and once again showed a dominant rushing attack led by Kody Cresswell and Hunter Patterson who combined for 1,466 yards and 20 touchdowns.                                                           Players to Watch LT Lukas Gumble RB, RV Noah Parchinski QB
