As we hit the last Friday of September, I always find it hard to believe that we are almost at the halfway point. By the end of October, we’ll be trading our shorts and t-shirts to pants and hoodies or Jackets depending on your preference. The entire game will be in the dark unless you play on a Saturday afternoon. Hopefully we have very little cancellations/postponements the rest of the way as we unfortunately lost the Old Shoe game due to COVID-19. With all that being said, let’s get into the games.

Williamsport at Berwick
Friday 7 PM
Williamsport is coming off a win over Central Mountain. Berwick is coming off a loss to Selinsgrove. Millionaires sophomore RB Jamair Harden has 16 catches for 381 yards and four touchdowns. Bulldogs senior RB Aidan Mason is rushing for 183 yards and three touchdowns on the season. The Millionaires are heading to Crispin Field riding a two game winning streak. The Bulldogs are currently on a two game losing streak. It’s a game between two teams going in opposite directions.
Prediction: Williamsport 35 Berwick 14

Valley West at Tunkhannock
Friday 7 PM
Valley West is coming off a win over Abington Heights. Tunkhannock is coming off a loss to North Pocono. Spartans DB Connor Olisewski has three interceptions on the season. Tigers RB Ty Konen has 217 yards rushing with three touchdowns. He has added eight catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Valley West got a big victory last week after their upset loss to Pittston Area. They are currently 4th in District 2/11 5A Subregional standings. The Tigers are looking to rebound at home. They are currently in 6th in the District 2 4A Standings.
Prediction: Valley West 35 Tunkhannock 7

Susquehanna at Nanticoke
Friday 7 PM
Susquehanna is coming off a loss to Lackawanna Trail. Nanticoke is coming off a loss to Shamokin. Sabers senior RB Jesse DeLousia is rushing for 223 yards and a touchdown. He leads the team in catches with eight and has an interception on defense. Trojans sophomore RB Zach Fox is rushing for 168 yards and a touchdown. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season. Both teams have had at least one game where they’ve looked like they were in line for their first win but a bad break could be the difference between a win and a loss.
Prediction: Nanticoke 28 Susquehanna 20

Wyoming Area at Crestwood
Friday 7 PM
Wyoming Area is coming off a loss to Southern Columbia. Crestwood is coming off a win over Western Wayne. Warriors QB Blaise Sokach-Minnick has 560 passing yards and nine touchdowns. Comets RB Ethan Shudak is rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on the season. Wyoming Area is coming off a tough loss to perennial power Southern Columbia at home. Crestwood is coming off a big shutout victory over Western Wayne. Will Wyoming Area rebound or will Crestwood continue their winning ways for the second straight game?
Prediction: Wyoming Area 28 Crestwood 14

Hanover Area at Lake-Lehman
Friday 7 PM
Hanover Area is coming off a shutout loss to Carbondale. Lake-Lehman is coming off a loss to Dunmore in Week 3. Hawkeyes senior RB Jeremy Vega is rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown. Black Knights senior RB Colby Roberts is rushing for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Hanover Area is currently on the outside of the District 2 3A picture. Lake-Lehman is currently the 8th team in the eight team playoff in 3A. A win by one of these teams will help get them into the playoffs.
Prediction: Lake-Lehman 35 Hanover Area 7

Hazleton Area at Dallas
Friday 7 PM
Hazleton Area is coming off a win over Pittston Area. Dallas is coming off a victory over Wilkes-Barre Area in Week 3. Cougars junior wide receiver Connor Shamany has 18 catches for 341 yards and two touchdowns. Mountaineers senior QB Jackson Wydra has thrown for 528 yards and six touchdowns. He has added four rushing touchdowns. The Cougars are on a two game winning streak and are currently the top seed in District 2 6A if the season ended today. The Mountaineers have won two straight and were off last week. Which one of these teams will keep their winning streak alive?
Prediction: Dallas 28 Hazleton Area 21

Holy Redeemer at Lackawanna Trail
Friday 7 PM

Royals senior wideout Justice Shoats has 12 catches for 316 yards and six touchdowns. Lions senior RB Kody Creswell is rushing for 343 yards and six touchdowns. The Royals are currently in the playoffs as the seventh team. However, they play several teams down the stretch that will affect their positioning. The Lions are currently the top seed in District 2 2A. The Lions look to be the favorite but will the Royals play spoiler and win their second straight game?
Prediction: Lackawanna Trail 35 Holy Redeemer 14

Pittston Area at Wilkes-Barre Area

The Wolf Pack are on a three game losing streak but lost to District 2 powers in Wyoming Area, Dallas and Delaware Valley. The Patriots turned some heads a few weeks ago when they knocked off Valley West. It looks to be a really good contest.
Prediction: Wilkes-Barre Area 35 Pittston Area 28
