Sr Sam Solomon (#76) scores on a lateral behind Jrs Bryce Hinkle (#51) and Shawn Kostak
Any concerns that the state ranked AAA Wyoming Area Warriors would have issues getting back on track after last weeks loss to Southern Columbia were quickly answered Friday Night in West Pittston.  On Sr Night at the “Jake” , it took only three plays from scrimmage for SR Dominic DeLuca to hit SR Brian Williams on a quick slant, and the speedy wideout sprinted through the opposition to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead with 10:32 left in Q1.
Darren Rodney (#1) starts out on one of his two touchdowns, a 19 yard carry behind Sr Dillon Williams
After allowing a couple first downs on the ground to Hawkeyes, the Warriors got the ball back in great field position and scored on another short drive.  This time it was Sr Darren Rodney with two carries in which he wasn’t touched.  The second ended in the end zone on a 23 yard carry that started over left guard.  The Warriors would close out Q1 on a 75 yd Punt Return from Brian Williams with just 23 seconds left in the 1st Quarter.  The Senior skillfully set up blockers along the visiting sideline and sprinted the last fifty yards away from opposing jerseys for the score.
SR Brian Williams (#6) escorts Soph Leo Haros (#22) on a 66 yd scoring return that would be called back. Soph Rocco Pizano (#3) and Sr Caleb Graham (#86) help set up the wall.
The Warriors would also put up 21 points in the second quarter with a 10 yard run on a lateral by Sam Solomon; in a chance for the D1 Recruit to shine on Senior Night.  Rodney would score the halfs fifth touchdown on a 19 yd run and Sr Derek Ambrosino would close out the first half scoring on a 31 yard catch from DeLuca with seconds left in the first half.  That score would make it the fourth time this season that the Warriors would enter the lockerroom by a score of 42 or more at the half.  In the 2nd half, Coach Randy Spencer auditioned some future Warrior leaders needed to replace 18 Srs; and Jr Vicienzo Giambra made the most of his opportunity with 2 carries for 92 yards.  He wasn;t touched on either and both ended in the end zone; one for 70 yards and one for 22 yards. Freshman Drew Mruk continued to help replace his brother Corey and had a game high 13 tackles; patrolling both sides of the field with good closing speed and textbook form tackling.
The Warriors finish up the Regular Season next Friday night at home vs their biggest rival, Pittston Area, as they look to keep top seed in the D2-AAA Playoff race.
