Jaceb is a senior that is making some noise for a big. He has great academic scores and participates in JROTC. He currently is catching the eyes of a lot of the Ivy League programs. Hard-working player. Look forward to seeing him play this year.
Let’s get to know Jaceb
With this being your final high school football season, are you preparing any differently than you have in the past?
This season, I’m leaving it all on the field. I have nothing to lose and still have plenty to prove. Now is my time to show everyone what I can do, from both an athletic and leadership standpoint. In seasons past I have put a lot of thought into what I do, perhaps too much; this fall I’m going to flip the switch and unleash a new beast.
What are your personal goals for the season?
Finish the season injury-free and in the best football shape of my life. I’d like to attain at least 75 tackles and 7.5 sacks (hopefully more). Develop my leadership skills and be named a team captain. Encourage my brothers to do their best in the classroom and on the field, using my own experience(s) to do so.
Where should the state finals be held?
Hershey Park Stadium, no question. Growing up I always remembered hearing about the “Road to Hershey,” hoping I could play there myself with my teammates and compete for a state championship.
How did you get into being the long snapper?
I was approached by my HC (Coach Heiser) at Millersville Team Camp last summer and told to begin working on long snapping. I was pretty terrible at first, but with the help of his oldest son Austin, who plays at Millersville, I began to pick it up.
What did you learn about yourself last season that you will use to be a better player this season?
A: That I let mistakes get the better of me sometimes. I think too much and get hung up on technicalities. What I have come to learn and accept, though, is that some things are out of my control. This season I will not only focus on making fewer mistakes, I will make them at a hundred miles an hour. Playing with more speed and intensity and focusing on what is in front of me will be huge for me this season.
What is your game-day routine?
Wake up and get a good breakfast. Pack any gear or attire I may need for game time then head to school. Finish out my school week strong and get as much homework done as possible before team dinner. Grub with the guys then begin to prepare myself mentally in a quiet space. Finish walk-thru’s on air and board the bus while listening to some Metallica. Get to the stadium, gear up, and get locked into the right frame of mind. Take the field and kick ass.
What will you remember the most from the 2022 season?
Winning the division with my brothers, most of whom I had the honor of playing with since the young age of 5. Becoming closer with my teammates than ever before.
What is your fondest memory as far as playing football goes?
Being selected to play for the USA Football US National Football Team in 2019, and compete with some of the best in the nation whilst learning from some of the best and brightest in the game. Being able to play in the NFL Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton was legendary.
After the season is over, what would it mean to you to be invited to play in the Big 33 game or the East vs. West all-star game?
A: It would be an honor to be selected to either of those games. Growing up I used to look at the names of Big33 selectees in trophy cases and think of how amazing it would be to one day be in their shoes. Of course, that will require hard work, and I will give it my all to (hopefully) make it to one of those games this year
Who is the best player you have ever faced?
Trevor Gallagher or Dunn Kessel. Both of those dudes are massive and freakishly quick for their size. Going against them as a scout team player my Sophomore year was eye-opening, to say the least. All jokes aside, though, they helped sharpen my skills and transform me into the player I am today. I nearly played against Nick Singleton my sophomore year, but a playoff loss to Warwick prevented that from happening. Otherwise, he’d be the best player I’ve faced.
If Gettysburg were to win only one game this season, which team would you want that win to come against?
New Oxford, no question. They have become a bitter rival of ours in recent years, and after our Week 2 loss to them last season, we’re looking for redemption on the road this fall.
What is a talent you have that would shock most people who know you?
I am able to play some sports ambidextrously, namely golf and basketball. This is because I have been taught how to play with both hands and in some cases feel better playing with my non-dominant hand (right hand)
Where is the best spot in town to grab a bite?
Ernie’s Texas Lunch or Tommy’s Pizza (though I have a slight bias). Blue and Gray is also slept on.
If you could pick any stadium, professional or college, to play a game at, where would it be?
Beaver Stadium, hands down. Growing up a PSU fan and watching the White Out each fall made me fall in love with college football. To play in a full house in Happy Valley would be life-changing.
Who is your favorite college football team?
The Pennsylvania State University. WE ARE!
