Let’s Get to know Carter

Why do you play football?

I play football because it allows me to grow relationships with my classmates in a way no other sport can. I utilize my leadership abilities and athletic ability to help my team grow and win as much as possible. I also love how I can gain a noticeable edge in my performance by putting in work in the weight room. Football is a sport where you can tell who puts in work on their own time and I take advantage of every opportunity I get to better myself and my teammates.

Favorite Athlete growing up?

Recently my favorite athlete has been C.J Stroud as he lives out his faith in a way I admire and look up to, and he is an incredible QB. I also love Ohio State so I was able to watch him develop into the player he is to date. Before C.J my favorite athlete was Lamar Jackson because my play style at QB is similar to his.

Favorite sports stadium

As an OSU fan it hurts to not say the shoe but Beaver Stadium by far. The atmosphere is unreal, especially during a white out.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most?

My first game starting QB in the beginning of my junior year, the first game of the season I remember on the same drive, I trucked a defender on a scramble then a few plays later I completed a deep corner rout while rolling out to my left. I consider this my favorite play or drive because it was really what gave me the confidence I needed to step up and perform how I know I can play.

What was last years season like for you?

It was a season of learning and growing for me. I recognized my strengths and weaknesses, which I worked on and continue to work on this offseason. I grew as a leader and learned the game in and out at the Varsity level. In a way, it was preparation for a special senior year.

What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?

I prefer college sports but if I had to choose, probably the Texans.

What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?

My favorite game I have played in was last years matchup against our rival Hershey. It was an extremely foggy day and the game came down to an offensive touchdown to put us up, and then a defensive stop on the 1 yard line to win the game. It was surreal and by far my favorite in game experience. For games I have watched, last years Penn State vs Ohio State at Beaver Stadium where Ohio state pulled away in the 4th quarter with a J.T Tuimoloua pick 6.

What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?

Underdog as the it keeps my mentality in check while also growing my relationship with God. The movie is also very relatable as Kurt Warner QB and it shows the ins and outs of the position.

If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?

“Go Carter!” Is what my mom would say.

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?

I would love have a 90+ yard passing touchdown. I have a 97 yard rushing touchdown so it would be cool to have both.

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?

C.J Stroud for his talent and faith. He is an incredible QB and he gives all the glory to God on and off the field.

Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:What is your most embarrassing sports moment?

Freshman year, my first year playing football I got totally trucked while attempting a tackle while at OLB. I did bring him down but it wasn’t pretty. This past year, we were up a good amount and we called a special double move play. I dropped back and was almost tackled but I for some reason hurled the ball up (literally a backwards pass) and it was an int. Pretty embarrassing because now my teammates bring up the backflip pic.

Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?

I would consider multiple members of our coaching staff to be my biggest fans because they know me very well and are always available to talk to about anything, football related or not. Other than that members of my church seem to always be interested.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

I enjoy woodworking and hunting. I also play airsoft because I have a huge fascination with special forces and the military in general.

One Pro/College coach you would love to be coached by

Andy Reid because his teams always find a way to win.

If you could have a conversation with any celebrity dead or alive who would it be and why

I would have a conversation with Drew Brees because I would be able to pick his mind about how to become elite mentally for being a QB and how to trust God through every situation or circumstance.

Most Overrated Food?

Spaghetti. The normal kind tho, angel hair is pretty good.

Nike or Under Armour?

Nike

Greatest Athlete of all time?

Bo Jackson

What do you want to be remembered as ?

I want to be remembered as a Christian athlete, and hardest working player on the field at all times. I want to be an elite leader and a better teammate.
