WORDS FROM THE HEAD COACH:

Austin had 1191 yards rushing during his junior season with 20 rushing TDs. He will be a huge focal point of our offense this season.

GETTING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT AUSTIN:

What is the best part of being a student-athlete at South Western High School ?
I think the best part of being a student athlete is the feeling of success after all of the hard work put in on and off the field is fulfilled.

How long have you been playing football(any level) ?
9 years

Of all the road games you have played, which stadium had the best overall atmosphere, along with what made it so good ?
If we are going off of the visual atmosphere, it would have to be Dallastown with their lights after they would score a touchdown even though it wasn’t good for us. On the other hand, the best, overall atmosphere would be the game we played against Spring Grove, because of how crazy everyone in the stand was cheering and yelling.

If the game is on the line, do you want to be on offense or defense ? Explain:
For me, I prefer to be on offense since I am mainly on offense and I am most comfortable there as well. Especially, I feel that we could control the game way better with the ball, we would be making the calls without reacting to them.

As an athlete, what has been your biggest achievement ?
Probably would have to be this last season where we beat Green Castle and I had my best statistical game so far. Also, to be winning a playoff game for our high school which had been out of touch with that area for a while was an amazing honor.

What was the high point of the 2023 season ?
Probably besides the last game of our season that I described above, I would have to say beating York High because, they have been a big team year after year and to finally knock them off last year was an amazing feeling.

What are you going to miss the most from the class of 2024 ?
Besides the great O-line I got to run behind last year, it is going to be all of the friends that I made. A Lot of the guys I connected with this season I knew who they were but not as friends. I am really gonna miss those guys and I wish the best of luck for them in the future.

What are your goals for the 2024 season ?
I have very big goals and aspirations for this year, after last year, many of our school’s records are well within reach for me this year. For our team, we are looking to go as deep as we ever had in our schools playoff history, which is winning the district championship. Our entire team is well aware of what type of hard work and dedication it will take to achieve our goals which is why we are all working as hard as we can this off-season.

Who is your favorite sports star and why ?
I would have to say it would have to be Saquon Barkley, because he is a fellow player from Pennsylvania and what he did at Penn State was amazing to watch when I was younger. I also have as big of quads as he does so I’d also like to compare myself to him.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most ? Explain:
My favorite play is when I had that long break away run against York High to give the momentum we needed to win.

Who is the best player(s) you have ever lined up against and what team did they play for ?
I don’t know of a single player that I can remember off the top of my head, however, Central York has always been a tough team that is always fun to compete with.

What stadium, (HS/College/Pro) would you love to visit for a game ?
It would have to be BYU’s Stadium-LaVell Edwards Stadium.

What is your favorite Pro Sports team(any sport) ? Explain:
Ever since I was young, I love watching both the Baltimore teams since I lived so close to them. Mainly if I had to pick a team it would be the Ravens, players like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Jamal Lewis were some of the earliest players that sparked my love for football.

What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why ?
I would have to be the game against York High this year, because of the environment and the back and forth game was so much fun to play.

What sports movie could you watch every day if you had to pick one, and why ?
We are Marshall, because the movie is such a lovely movie about family and the bonds that are made on a football team can be unbreakable.

Name one thing you’d love to do in football that may never happen ?
Score a touchdown on an NFL field with the crowd all cheering for me.

Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:
Golf, because it is during football season and I love playing Golf.

When you aren’t playing, practicing, or training for sports, what is your go to activity, and why ?
Normally when I have nothing to do its playing video games, however I do love to dabble in playing the piano or guitar.

Which one, Sheetz, Wawa, or Rutters ? Explain:
Wawa, it just has the best food and shakes, no explanation needed.

What is your favorite vacation destination ?
I loved when I went to Orlando, Florida.

Tell us something that you have a fear of ?
Not being remembered when I die.

Favorite Fast Food/Burger place and why ?
Best fast food place is easily Raising Canes, because their chicken is the best and the sauce is the best sauce out of everything.

Have you ever been to a professional sports game, which ones ?
Yes, I’ve been to a Ravens, Orioles, and Chelsea game.

NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAAF, NFL, Which league is the best and why ?\
NCAAF, because of how hard the players play and how in it the crowd is.

What is your favorite video game, on mobile and or console ?
Marvel: Spider-Man 2

What toppings go on your favorite pizza ?
Hot Take: Pineapple

Motorcycle, across the entire United States.

Having a loving family.

Location you think would be the best place to live(ie: island, mountains, city, etc) ? Explain why:
I think that it would have to be the Caribbean Islands, because of the bright sunshine and the clear oceans.
