Coach says: “Great athlete who is counted on to do a lot on both sides of the ball. Plays with a chip on his shoulder on both sides of the ball. Defensively he is an explosive player that can make plays sideline to sideline”.
Let’s get to know Matthew!!
Why do you play football?
I play football to help develop leadership skills as well as my passion for playing the game
It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to my team visualizing and educating the plays
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
I would say Lamar Jackson because despite how he grew up and what he went through he still never let that define him.
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
I like when my coach calls lion. Lion is a package where I move up to defensive end.
What was last years season like for you?
I would say it was a pretty okay season but there is always more I can improve on.
What are your goals for this coming season?
To be a leader on and off the field and set by example to my teammates.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
Messiah Mickens
When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?
I would say nick sabon because he has lead his team to multiple consecutive championships.
What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?
I would say Florida state university so I can see the atmosphere of it in person
What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?
I would say the ravens in the NFL
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
My sophomore season when we played Camp Hill going into double overtime letting the game go down to the wire, us ultimately winning.
What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?
Remember the titans. I pick that movie because the message of the movie is powerful to me. It symbolizes how people with different race and backgrounds come together as one and unite to play the sport they all love despite what’s going on in the outside world around them. I watched this movie with my teammates and ever since we play the song “ain’t no mountain high enough” after every win.
If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?
They yell motivating stuff typically if I make a decent play.
Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?
Run the ball as a running back.
Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:
I would love to try golf but I can’t swing a club to save my life

Cramping mid tackle
Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?
I would say my older brother because he drives me to all my far camps that I want to go to.
When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?
Fishing, it’s just something all my boys and I can just bond with doing and make games out of it
