LET’S GET TO KNOW GRADY:

Why do you play football?

My Dad has always been a big fan of the sport, so I learned to love the game at a very young age. I was also inspired by my older brother who started playing a year before I did.

What was the 2024 season like for you?
Last year was special for me because for the first time I was put in a starting role, which brings with it a new level of pressure and responsibility.
What are your goals for 2025?
The team goal is always to make playoffs, so my personal goals are whatever it takes to help the team get there. And for me that means I need to develop my leadership skills and work to become a more complete player.
What do you think is the best aspect of your game?
I think I’m just blessed with a lot of the abilities needed to succeed at my position. Having that natural athleticism allows me to focus more on the mental aspects of the game during practice.
How have you approached this offseason differently than previous offseasons?
Being a senior has changed the way I view the upcoming season. I know it’s my last ride with the Bulldogs, but instead of using it as an excuse to take it easy, it has inspired me to work even harder.
What does leadership mean to you?
On a football team, a position of leadership is one you have to earn. You have to gain the respect of your teammates and coaches on and off the field. When you’re on the field, that looks like going all out and doing your job on every play. When your off the field, that looks like holding teammates accountable, being encouraging, and most importantly setting an example for the younger players on the team.
What is the best part about playing for Big Spring High School?
In Big Spring, we put a lot of emphasis on brotherhood and sportsmanship. We are always trying to hold each other accountable on and off the field. Plus, we have a fantastic fan base that travels well and is always loud.
Who was the best player you have ever played against?
Drew Branstedder, QB from Camp Hill. He was always going 110%, scrambling around and slinging the football. Last year we ran a completely different defense against Camp Hill because we knew he would be throwing it deep all night long.
Who has had the most impact on you as a player and person?
My older brother Chase. He has always been a leader and an encourager to me.
Who is your biggest fan?
My little brothers, Lincoln and Teddy, who will be better football players than me someday.
What are your hobbies outside of football?
Hunting and backyard games like volleyball and wiffle ball.
How would you describe preseason two-a-days?
No one has too much fun during two-a-days, but they are essential for the success of the team. It’s not only conditioning or wearing full pads for the first time, but it’s also a time for team bonding and learning and finding chemistry.
What is your favorite football memory, playing or watching?
I didn’t play much in this game, but winning the LBJ back from Shippensburg my sophomore year was awesome.
What is your favorite genre of music?
Rock, anywhere from classic to metal. Country gets a shout out too.
What is your favorite pregame hype song?
Enter Sandman by Metallica, Remember the Name by Fort Minor, or anything by Linkin Park.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Alaska.
What is your favorite pregame meal?
Lunch. I always wait until after the game when the butterflies have settled down.
