Coach Says: Brinley is set to return under center for his second year running the triple option. He is an elusive runner with a long stride and deceptive speed. As the season progressed he was really effective with his reads and able to consistently carry the option through all three phases, dive, keep and pitch. He worked hard this off season on his passing set and this spring the progress is notable. He is a hard working three sport athlete and was peer selected to the Leadership Council.
Why do you play football?
I love the team bonding we do, and that I feel like football is such a different sport than all of the other sports. Another thing I love about football is the brotherhood most the guys I play with now I have been playing with since I was 7.
It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?
The hype in the locker room and just seeing the younger guys for the first time be under the lights on a Friday night
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
Jackson dart and cam Skattebo, they just go to show how close people can get and the love they show for the sport
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
Hard question because I have a lot of those. But one of them was this past year, this happened twice with two different lineman. They picked off the ball and one took it back for a touchdown. It’s just great to see the big boys feel involved and just being able to get the ball.
What was last years season like for you?
A lot of growth, we lost a lot of older guys 2 years ago and we almost had to rebuild our kind and back core. But it was great we had an alright season and everyone from last year grew a lot to this year so I’m excited what this year is going to look like
What are your goals for this coming season?
Just be the best person on the team, help the younger guys and just try to put my name on the map. But I’m really big on helping the younger guys because when my class leaves I want the upcoming kids to be better then I am. I want to leave the program knowing next year should be a better year then this year.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
Drew Engle
When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?
Chip Kelly
What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?
Penn state or Tennessee
What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?
Eagles
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
When Penn state beat Ohio state, my uncle had the funniest face on when Ohio lost.
What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?
Gridiron gang. Goes to show even though life is rough you can still make something out of it
If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?
Just yelling my name or screaming because I just had a crazy play.
Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?
Switch positions just to try something new.
Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?
Ray Lewis, he was just such a dog in football and the love for the sport was unmatched. He was the guy that was cool and funny but when it came to game time he was locked in
Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:
Golf
What is your most embarrassing sports moment?
When I ran onto the field when I was younger and someone tripped me.
If you could only drive one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably a second gen dodge 2500 with wides and have it lowered with a 8 inch exhaust tip and with concave wheels or a 3rd gen lifted with a 12 inch exhaust tip fully deleted.
When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?
I love to hunt because that’s something I loved to do with my grandfather before he passed away
What is your favorite football memory to date?
When we buzzed a kids hair in the locker room 9/24/24 and when we were having a team dinner some kid fell through the pool cover 10/18/25
What is your favorite play to run?
A play action pass
What scares you the most?
The fear of failing, not living up to the name. And having a season ending injury
