3 Game Previews for week 9 in Lancaster-Lebanon League

1)Elco at Columbia– Columbia comes in with a 6-1 record including winning 5 straight. Elco comes in 3-4 but off a win over Northern Lebanon. Columbia is in the driver’s seat for section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League, but if Elco who is 2-1 in league play could win this game they will have a shot at the league title.

Key to victory– The key is can Elco run the ball well enough and keep Quarterback Robert Footman off of the field.  Robert Footman is second in the state in passing yards with 2,129 yards. Footman and his wide receivers have given every team they play fits, so we will see if Elco can slow them down. Elco runs an option-based offense, so they should be able to run the ball and control the clock and keep Footman off the field. We will see if it is enough.

2) Wilson at Hempfield– Hempfield comes into this game with a 5-3 record including a huge win last week at rival Township. Wilson comes into this game 5-3 as well, including a winning 3 straight. Whoever wins this will be in the driver’s seat for section 1 title of the Lancaster-Lebanon League.

Key to victory– Whoever can control the line of scrimmage and run the ball? Hempfield is led by Dual-Threat QB Cam Harbaugh and several running backs that they rotate. Wilson is led by running back Jadyn Jones. In last week’s win over Township, Hempfield controlled the line of scrimmage and was able to run the ball at will on Township, and on the flip side, they controlled Township’s run game on defense.

One more note: My pafootballnew.com colleague CJ Frederick will be at this game covering it. You can follow him on Twitter at @carljfred

3) Cocalico vs. Warwick– Cocalico comes into this game 5-3, including a 3 game winning streak. Warwick comes into the game 4-3, but their game against Solanco was cancelled last week because Solanco had covid issues.

Key to victory– Which Offense has more success? Cocalico runs an option-based offense, where Warwick runs a spread attack. Whichever offense controls this game, will likely win the game. This is a fascinating match-up of contrasting styles.
