BISHOP McDEVITT WINS DISTRICT THREE 4A TITLE 41-31 OVER BERKS CATHOLIC

(Neffsville) They say that revenge is a dish best served cold. It was extremely cold on Friday afternoon. And Bishop McDevitt extracted a years worth of Revenge on District Three rival Berks Catholic in the District Three 4A title game.  The Crusaders had the Saints in their sights all year long and came away with a 41-31 victory Friday afternoon.

McDevitt was led by running back CJ Reyes-Diggs who ran around and through the BC defense all game long.  Crusaders QB Chase Diehl had two TD passes and a rushing touchdown

McDevitt Head Coach Jeff Weachter had Berks Catholic front and center in his planning all season.  “we took a week of the summer and just worked on them (BC), this is just so huge for our kids, they wanted this so bad.”   Quarterback Chase Diehl said “the lineman had open lanes for me all day, it was a great game by everybody, I am glad we won. ”

Berks Catholic got on the board first at the 3:31 mark of quarter one when Terry Derr scored.

Bishop McDevitt came right back to tie the score as the first quarter ended.

McDevitt blocked a BC punt on the Saints next possession.  The Crusaders Chase Diehl cashed in immediately to put Bishop McDevitt out in front

McDevitt kept the pressure on Berks Catholic.  There Crusader next possession yielded another TD to make the score 20-7 over BC

BC did not just go into half.  A quick run down the field led to a field goal and a 20-10 halftime score.

CJ Reyes-Diggs extended the lead early in quarter three for Bishop McDevitt

Berks Catholic answered right back with Quarterback Terry Derr  going in

McDevitt came right back on the ground with Reyes-Diggs going to extend the lead late in quarter three.

Berks Catholic kept right on coming.  They pulled to within 10 early in the final quarter.

McDevitt then fumbled the ensuing kick off and we really had a ball game when they pulled to within 34-31

Then we had the play of the game .  McDevitt converted on a fake punt deep in their end to keep a drive alive midway through the fourth quarter.

McDevitt then proceeded to ground a time consuming drive down the field.  Diehl’s TD pass to Burnett got the lead to 41-31 and that’s how it ended.
