Chrys Black Jr. ran for 211 yards on 37 carries, scoring three times to lead PCC to a 32-14 win over Harrisburg. This is the second year in a row that the Vikings have taken down Harrisburg in the semi-final round.
The Cougar defense couldn’t stop the small but extremely powerful and somewhat squirmy and shifty back. “I was a receiver [last year], so I couldn’t really get the ball in my hands as much as I wanted. Because when you’re receiver, you don’t know if you will get the ball or not. But when you’re running back, you know you’ll most likely get the ball. So that’s played a bigger role this year, for sure” said Black of his performance.
Make no mistake though, the Vikings “will have a few things to clean up this week and will have to have a great week of practice to defeat their next challenger” is what PCC Head Coach Ryan Lehmeier told his team after the game. Both teams struggled with execution and penalties all game long. The Vikings were hit with flags 12times for 100 yards while Harrisburg got nailed 13times for 82 yards. It was the Cougars that started the laundry parade on their opening drive. A false start dropped them to their 15 the the next snap went sideways putting the Cougars on their own two. Harrisburg got five yards back on a PCC penalty but for whatever reason they punted on third down.
Central Catholic seized the opportunity with great field position and Black Jr. carried them straight to the 6. Roman Thompson ran in for the score giving PCC a fast 7-0 lead.

Neither team threatened to score until midway through the second quarter when Black Jr had this incredible run to the endzone, dancing and spinning 34 yards for the score and the Vikings got the two:

Mickens scored from a few yards out after a spectacular catch by Jaiyon Lewis set the ball up deep in Viking territory but they missed the conversion keeping the score 15-6. PCC stopped the next Cougar drive but coughed up the ball on their next go round. But it was a mere delay. Black Jr. hit on another td run to put PCC up 22-6. Antonio Mifiatta gave the Vikings a 25-6 lead with a 43 yard field to open the scoring in the third quarter. Mickens got another score to make it a 25-14 game late in the third but Black Jr. squirted loose in the fourth for a 26 yard score to seal the deal for Central Catholic. They’ll face La Salle college next Saturday at 7pm for the 6A title.
