(Manheim) Mother Nature threw that state of PA a curve ball Thursday with big snowfalls across the state.  The sense of resolve  by schools and communities to get stadiums ready for football was a site to see.  Manheim Central was no different.  The snow removal effort became a rallying cry that spilled over into the game Saturday night.  The Barons and the Cedar Cliff Colts had a nip and tuck battle and in the end Manheim Central came out on top 42-20.

Manheim Centrals win  vaulted the District Three 5A defending champions into the title game against arch rival and fellow Lancaster Lebanon league foe Cocalico.  The Eagles dispatched York William Penn 61-35 earlier in the day on the Barons home turf.

Barons Quarterback Evan Simon had a sparkling performance.  Evan had three long TD passes, two to Colby Wagner, and two  TD runs.

The first quarter turned out to be a defensive back and forth.  Finally the Barons jumped on top 6-0.

Both teams kept battling though a tough quarter two.  Then Cedar Cliff jumped on top on a Jaheim Morris run.

Both teams defenses continued to play lights out until with under a minute in the half. Simon then hit Will Rivers and quickly another to Colby Wagner  in the span of 20 seconds.  Just that quick we went to halftime with Manheim Central leading 21-7.

After halftime both teams defenses gave up nothing.  Things then began to heat up when Cedar Cliff got to within seven late in the third.

Things got very interesting when Cedar Cliff scored again on their next passion.  The extra point failed which kept the Barons on top 21-20 heading to the fourth quarter.

Tension mounted as both teams battled in the 4th.  Finally halfway though the quarter Simon hit Wagner on a bomb again to give Manheim Central some breathing room.

Evan Simon’s second rushing TD of the night increased the lead to 35-20 with just over two minutes left.

Chris Shaw’s late TD capped the scoring and the final was Manheim Central 42 Cedar Cliff 20.

Its on to the District Three 5A title game for Manheim Central.  Cedar Cliff finishes a fine season at (10-3)
