The Halifax Wilcats are sitting at an impressive 7-0 right now. Just 5 years ago the Wildcats didn’t win a game. That’s a good thing for the small school sitting just along the Susquehanna just a few miles above Harrisburg. A great turn around. In the single A division, one play can make a difference. When that player has 10 interceptions through 7 games, over 450 yards receiving and 68 tackles, it can help a team be THAT team. At 6-1, 170-pounds, Broc Grosser IS that player. His knowledge on the field shows, as does his talent. West Virginia player of Personnel Ryan Dorchester saw that talent and offered him a spot on the Mountaineer team as a preferred walk-on a few days ago. Broc didn’t hesitate and accepted the offer. He made his announcement via twitter:
PAFootballNews caught up with Broc to ask him about his decision:
WPA: why did you choose WVU?
Broc: I chose wvu because it’s like a second home to me and my brother went there previously for academic purposes and I’ve been around the football program since I was little.
WPA: who was your biggest influence at WVU, who recruited you?
Broc: I was recruited by Ryan Dorchester the director of player personnel.
WPA: what do your parents think of your decision?
Broc: My parents agreed with my decision because WVU has been in the family for while now
WPA: what are they getting in player like you?
Broc: They’ll be getting a hard working player who has a great work ethic. Also a smart football player
WPA: what position will you play?
Broc: I will be starting out aT free safety
WPA: why commit early?
Broc: I committed early because West Virginia is a dream school and is like a second home to me
WPA: what was the recruiting process like for you?
Broc: The recruiting process was pretty cool and getting a first hand view of a big time d1 program like wvu was awesome
WPA: Do you know what you’d like to study?
Broc: I’d like to either study civil engineering or environmental engineering
WPA: What do you think is the most exciting thing about WVU?
Broc: The most exciting thing about wvu is prolly the fans, everyone supports the wvu sports, since there is no pro team in West Virginia
WPA: How will this affect your play for your senior season?
Broc: This will only make me play harder to keep improving everyday
