(Harrisburg, PA) It was a Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Severance field.  Harrisburg in the midst of a seven game win streak took on the Thundering Herd of Carlisle High in a Mid Penn Conference Commonwealth showdown.  A year that began with great promise for the Herd, has taken an about face over the last five weeks.  On Saturday the Cougars played an almost flawless game and came away with a solid 64-10 victory over an outmanned Carlisle team.

Rynell Gant had two TD runs and a TD reception to lead Harrisburg.  Jahmir Plant had two TD runs and Kane Everson was solid again in the Quarterback position.

Head Coach Calvin Everett was very pleased with his teams performance.  “Offensively we did a great job.  I think every offensive possession we scored, so what more can you ask for? Right now our team is peaking.”

Harrisburg (8-1) received the opening kick and established immediate dominance over Carlisle (3-6).  It took just over three minutes to go up 6-0 on a Jahmir Plant dive play.   The Cougars second possession was culminated with a TD.  This time Everson hit Gant for a short score.  14-0 after a good two pointer

The Harrisburg defense was tough all day.  They gave the ball back to the offense again and it paid immediate dividends.  Everson hit Donte Kent on a bomb deep down the middle to get the score to 22-0 still in the first quarter.

After trading interceptions, a Dana Purdy dive play got the Harrisburg lead to 28-0 with 11:53 till half.  Carlisle still kept plugging away.  A drive deep into the Harrisburg end was thwarted when Elijah Scott ran back an interception  for a score  36-0 7:41 till half.

Maybe the next score was the most electric of the day.  Rynell Gant took the ball around end and made a long TD run look easy.  44-0 4:13 until halftime

The Herd kept coming.  A productive drive near the end of the half was finished by a Caleb Richwine field goal  44-3 as we went to the break.

Carlisle ‘s lone TD was a nice Kurtis Ravenel grab to put the score at 44-10 with 5:30 left in the third.

Jahmir Plant was a one man wrecking crew on the next Harrisburg possession.  His dive TD got the score to 58-10 at the end of three.

Rynell Gant put the icing on the cake with a short score while playing Quarterback.

Harrisburg can capture the Commonwealth crown with a win at Altoona next Friday night.  Carlisle tries to get some momentum going into the off season when they host Chambersburg next week.
