“When is it ever an easy game against them?” said a drenched Lampeter-Strasburg head coach Victor Ridenour after a gatorade bath his team gave him following a hard fought 20-7 win over Wyomissing at Bob Wolfrum Field on a beautiful sunny fall day.
Last week against Twin Valley the points just seemed to pile up one after another. Today, every point was earned. Lampeter jumped out to a 7-0 lead on their second possession of the game. Dom Brown carried the ball in from one yard out making it a 7-0 game with just 4:43 left in the first quarter.

The drive was one of two long, time consuming drives that ended with a score by the Pioneers. The teams then exchanged punts, but it was a bad kick by the Pioneers that led to the only Wyomissing score. The Pioneer punt actually lost yardage and gave the Spartans the ball at the Lampeter 15. Three plays later Derek Macrina carried the rock in from a yard out to tie the score at 7 with 54 seconds left in the first period.

It took a while, but midway through the
second quarter the Pioneers embarked on a 13 play drive and ended with a field goal to give the Spartans a 10-7 lead heading into halftime. Back and forth both teams went until there was 3 minutes left in the third quarter. Peter Fiorello hit a 41 yard field goal to give the Spartans a 13-7 lead.

Caileb Howse, who last week scored 8 times, sealed the game with his only score of the game, a 10 yard run.
“This is amazing. We definitely had to play the whole game this week” said Howse. “Right after we went 3-0 in conference play I knew we could get this done” he said of going 10-0.
Both teams earned a bye with Lampeter earning the top seed in the District 3 playoffs.
