Last week, the Conestoga Valley Buckskins improved to 6-1 on the season, as they defeated Governor Mifflin 24 to 7. Tonight they hosted Manheim Central. The Barons also improved to 6-1 last week, annihilating Lebanon 70 to 13. The Manheim Central Barons continued their success this week, with an impressive 47 to 14 victory over Conestoga Valley.

Manheim Central received the opening kickoff and after a solid return, they began their night from their own 40 yard line. The Barons marched the ball right down the field in six plays. On the drive, Quarterback Zac Hahn found running back Brycen Armold for a 20 yard gain. Then Hahn kept it himself and scrambled for 24 yards to the Conestoga Valley seven yard line. Armold then completed the drive with a seven-yard touchdown run. After the extra point, Central led seven to zero.

Conestoga Valley began their first drive of the night from their own 28-yard line. After three quick plays, the Buckskins had gone backwards and were forced to punt.

Manheim Central’s next drive covered 59 yards in 15 plays and resulted in another Baron touchdown. Armold rushed six times for 28 yards, and Hahn connected with wide receiver Aaron Enterline four times for 36 yards and the touchdown. The Barons now led by 14 with just over three minutes left in the first quarter.

Conestoga Valley’s quarterback, Liam Cheek, put together a few solid passes and got the Buckskins down to the Manheim Central 28 yard line. However, the drive stalled there. After an incomplete pass on fourth down, Conestoga Valley turned the ball over on downs.

Armold carried the ball nine times for the Barons on the ensuing drive. He gained 51 yards before Manheim Central had to settle for a field goal, making the score 17 to zero.

Conestoga Valley would finally respond on their next drive. After gaining a chunk of yardage due to a pass interference penalty, Cheek found Isaiah Sensenig for a 62 yard touchdown. This score trimmed Central’s lead to ten with just over two minutes remaining in the first half.

The Barons got a huge return on the kickoff and started the following drive at the Buckskins 23 yard line. They were unable to get in the endzone, but they converted another field goal, making the score 20 to 7 at the half.

Conestoga Valley received the second half kickoff, and they needed to find a spark. Jayden Johnson ripped off a solid 12 yard rush to get things going for the Buckskins, and then three plays later he hauled in a 53 yard touchdown pass from Cheek. The Buckskins now only trailed by six.

Manheim Central answered right back on the following drive. Bryce Armold found the end zone again on a 22 yard touchdown run to cap off a quick five-play drive. The Barons failed the extra point leaving the score at 26 to 14.

Conestoga Valley went three and out on their next drive, and Central started with the ball on their own 25. Yet again, the Barons moved the ball down the field easily. Armold rushed for his third touchdown of the night to cap off a ten-play, 75-yard drive. Armold finished the game with 209 yards on 29 attempts.  After the game, Armold said, “The offensive line stepped up, the holes were freaking huge. When you can run through holes like that, it is pretty easy to play running back.”

Again, Conestoga Valley was unable to get anything going offensively, and they were forced to punt. Manheim Central then went three and out and was forced to punt for the first time.

The Buckskins next drive lasted for 12 plays. They drove the ball to the Central 42 yard line before throwing three straight incompletions and getting sacked on fourth down.

The Barons then put the game out of reach when Hahn found Enterline for a 45 yard touchdown. This made the score 40 to 14 with 8:35 remaining in the game.

Conestoga Valley punted once more, and then Manheim Central added one final touchdown. This time Hahn found Enterline for 22 yards. Zac Hahn finished the game with 192 yards through the air and three passing touchdowns, which were all thrown to Aaron Enterline. Enterline finished with 139 yards on nine receptions.

Conestoga Valley let the clock run out and Manheim Central went home with the 47 to 14 victory. The Barons improved to 7-1 while the Buckskins slipped to 6-2.

After the game, Manheim Central Head Coach Dave Hahn said, “The sky’s the limit for these guys if we keep working … we celebrate the wins for 12 hours and then we are right back at it working for the next week”.
