(Ambler, PA) Special Teams plays a huge part in every football game, but Special Teams seems to be even more magnified in the post season. Manheim Central’s set it self up for success Friday Night with a terrific effort by it’ special teams and cruised to a 34-12 win over Upper Dublin in a PIAA 5A Semi Final.
Along with the Special Teams effort the Barons Defense provided a lights out performance. Upper Dublin Quarterback Mike Slivka was pressured in the pocket all night long. The Cardinals were also never able to put together any kind of consistent ground attack
Manheim Central Junior Tyler Hartl who had a game changing punt block said “we know that defense wins championships, but we also know that we won a state title on a special teams blocked PAT, so we know the importance of both.” Quarterback Evan Simon after the win said “we are a program where the standard is set high, we are not done yet.” Head Coach Dave Hahn agreed that Special Teams played a big part in the win ” we have a special teams coach who is awfully dedicated, he puts in as much time and effort on special teams as I do on offense, he leaves no stone unturned.”
Manheim Central took the opening kick into the Upper Dublin end. The Cardinals stopped the drive with a nice INT
