Back on May 25 Bishop McDevitt lineman Carter Christopher announced he had received an offer to play football for the William & Mary Tribe. It was one of several offers he got back in the spring, including Monmouth, Columbia and Dartmouth. But it was his visit with the Tribe that stood out. Today the 6-2, 285 Christopher confirmed his feelings and committed to play football and continue his education with William & Mary:

We asked him about his commitment and what it means:

WPA: why did you choose The Tribe?

Carter: When I stepped foot on campus I knew it was where I wanted to spend the next 4-5 years of my life. The small school environment reminded me of my hometown Hershey.

WPA: who was your biggest influence at William & Mary, who recruited you?

Carter: My biggest influence at William and Mary was seeing what the alumni have done with their lives. From playing in the NFL to being doctors and working on Wall Street. With a network like that it was hard to turn down.

Coach Bob Solderitch a William and Mary alumni and offensive line coach recruited me.

WPA: what do your parents think of your decision?

Carter: My parents were all in with me on my decision. They knew how happy I was after visiting the school. They wanted me to be set up for life after football and there aren’t many better places than William and Mary to do so.

WPA: what are they getting in player like you?

Carter: I see myself as a player who prides themselves on hard work and drive. I like to lead my teammates and teach them what I’ve learned. They’re getting a blue collared guy who loves to get after it in the trenches.

WPA: what position will you play?

Carter:

WPA: why commit early?

Carter: I wouldn’t say i committed early or anyone really commits early. There’s a point in recruiting where you know what you want and when you’re ready to pull the trigger. I was ready and did so.

WPA: Do you know what you’d like to study?

Carter: I’d like to study business and finance. It’s a dream of mine to work on Wall Street one day. William and Mary has a solid business school that goes up against the best in the country.

WPA: What do you think is the most exciting thing about William & Mary?

Carter: The most exciting thing about William and Mary is the future. Right now they have a good core of guys in the program and with the class coming in and my class the following year we will be able to go up against anyone in the country.

WPA: How will this affect your play for your senior season?

Carter: It will definitely make my senior year a lot less stressful but with that comes the reality that I’m now representing my family, Bishop McDevitt, and William and Mary. At the end of the day my main goal right now is to win a state championship.
