Last month Sophomore Anthony Myers and the Berks Catholic football team were given some very bad news. Myers was advised that he had brain cancer. At first the news was devastating. But as time went on local, regional and national efforts on the Myers family’s behalf began to lift peoples spirit. #17Strong (Anthony’s number) became a rallying cry. This week the news became almost unbelievable when Anthony was once again given the go ahead to resume playing football. The emotions reached an incredible level today when he took the field once again for Berks Catholic. Myers then proceeded to score two first quarter TD’s, one an electrifying 80 yard punt return and Berks Catholic rode those emotions to defeat Milton Hershey 49-21.
The win advanced Berks Catholic into a District Title game for the fourth straight year. The Saints will play Bishop McDevitt in the 4A final for the second consecutive year in looking for a fourth straight District Title.

Brandon George’s 3 TD’s on offense led the BC attack. Anthony Myers emotional boost and two first quarter TD’s were so very instrumental in the win as well.
Berks Catholic Head Coach Rick Keeley was beaming with pride following the win. “This team always comes out ready to play, and you saw us at our best today.” Brandon George said ” Having Anthony back made a BIG impact on offense and on special teams today.” Quarterback Terry Derr a four year starter was playing his last game at the Forino sports complex. “the guys on the offensive and defensive lines just did a ton of the work today, its now time for our second championship of the season and we have to take it to them.” Anthony Myers said words I will always remember “You never know when the last snap is going to be, I was just playing my heart out every single snap, that’s all I can do.”
Berks Catholic took the opening kick and drove right down the field. Brandon George scored the first of his 3 TD’s on the day to put BC on top.
