Coach Yonchiuk says “Malachi is very fast and explosive. He gets in the backfield with power and quickness. He’s very difficult to block one on one. Monmouth is getting a great player”.

LET’S GET TO KNOW MALACHI AND MORE ABOUT HIS DECISION AND LIFE

Why do you play football?

I play football for my best friend that sadly passed away at the young age of 9 from sun cancer his name was Ayden Kohler. I also play football to continuously build a bond and relationship with my teammates. lastly i play football to hit people and make plays.

Why did you commit to Monmouth? What was it about their program?

I committed to Monmouth because of the environment, the atmosphere and how they treated me. They say don’t base a school you commit to on the coaches but they played a part in it as well. The food also won me over.

Who recruited you from Monmouth?

Coach Walker and Coach Dorrsett.

What is monmouth going to get from you as a player and as a student

they’ll get a great student a great person who treats people well and who will lead their team to a championship not only for football but in life as well a person who only wants to make everybody around him better and a phenomenal football player!!

what role did your parents and coach Yonchiuk play in your recruiting?

my mom played a huge role in my life as well as the whole coaching staff all being there when i needed them and really guiding me through my recruitment process. if i needed any questions asked or any help whatsoever i always knew to go to the coaches for anything!!

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

I would either say Richard Sherman, Luke Keuchley or Payton Wilson they all share this absurd amount of tenacity while playing and i love it!! i strive to play like that.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:

My favorite play was against York high and I just remember seeing Dominic Grove stop Jaheim White on the one yard line to win the game and advance us farther into the playoffs.

What was last years season like for you?

it was exciting and i absolutely loved every last bit of it. i played with all of the guys i grew up playing with. i mean from the memory’s from the highs and lows it was all great and i’m happy that i got to experience it with that group of guys and i couldn’t have ask for a better season.

What are your goals for this coming season?

to have 25+ sacks win a district championship and lead my team and the younger kids to show them the central tradition of winning.

Who is the best player you ever lined up against?

Kevin Brown from Harrisburg. He doesn’t run out of energy.

What would you do to improve the recruiting process?

Grades. Grades are extremely important i wish i would’ve noticed freshman year how important they were and how far they can take you.

Describe what the perfect teammate is

somebody who is passionate about football loves the game but is also a contributing member of society and helps out doesn’t just watch they are the one being watched and leads by example.

Tell everyone why you think football is good for a community

football brings everybody together, on thanksgiving when you go outside and throw the ball around it only brings joy to people. it bring everybody together and gives people that came from work came from their house or even school they all something to look forward to on Friday nights.

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?

throw a touch down pass

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?

Payton Wilson because he has this tenacity that nobody else has when he plays and how he approaches situations. he’s the best linebacker in this the draft class.

Preseason Two a Days are:

extremely horrible but the funnest time of my football career. i’ve never ever had no fun and so much fun at the same time.

Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?

Nathan Gregory, because he’s been there before any offer any interest or recognition i had and still pushed me when nobody was there to push me.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

goin out and eating some good food with my teammates or friends. the reason why is because you always have to catch up and put everything else to the side for a moment and just relax with your friends.
