When your the team that gets down 4 scores early, it’s tough to recover. That team wasn’t the Rollers. Steelton-Highspire tuned up their offensive motor for the playoffs with a 52-34 win over the Mustangs. Alex Erby continue his statistical tear going 24 of 29 for 412 yards and 4 td passes, three of which were over 30 yards. “Right at the beginning there, that botched kickoff, that hurt us and it took a while to recover” said West Perry head coach Bob Boden.
That kickoff was the opening kick. The Roller kick was short and one of the up men for the Mustangs didn’t get the handle on the ball. Steel High recoverd on the 36 and three plays later Erby had his first td pass, a 23 yard toss to Durrell Ceasar Jr. (Ceasar had 11 catches for 200 yards) The kick missed. On thier next possession the Rollers drove 74 yards and finished that drive with a 7 yard td run by Ronald Burnette. The bleeding didn’t stop for the Mustangs. Daquan McCraw stepped in front of a Marcus Quaker pass and made a brilliant interception to give the Rollers yet another possession in the first quarter. They capitalized 4 plays later with another td run from Burnette. Just like that it was 21-0 Rollers with 4:10 left in the first quarter.

“Yeah, they made a few adjustments and we were able to keep ahead. Hats off to them though, that’s a good team and we expected a battle. They aren’t 9-0 coming in for no reason” said Rollers head coach Andrew Erby. Stay ahead they did. The Rollers weren’t done in the first quarter. The Rollers defense forced a quick three and out and Erby went to work on the first play hitting Jaeion Perry for a 45 yard gain to the 23. Burnette got his third td of the day going in from 3 yards. out. “It was just all about the preparation. I just knew they were tough, so we felt we needed to strike fast” said quarterback Alex Erby.
The Mustangs finally got a little momentum on the very next play when Marcus Quaker (who had over 200 yards passing) high Derek Snook for a 55 yard td, a one play drive. It was a short repreive as Erby found Jaeion Perry with a short toss but Perry made a move across the field and took off for the endzone.

Tucker Zieglar scored from three yards out for the Mustangs making the halftime score 34-14. Steelton came out in the second half and quickly found the endzone again when Erby hit McCraw for a 60 yard td pass. Then things got interesting. Quaker ( hit Gooding for a 57 yard score to make it a 41-21 game, then after the defense forced a turnover, the duo hooked up again, this time for a 29 yard td pass and it looked like we had the makings of a comeback.
