
Sample Rushes for 245 yards as Mechanicsburg Edges Boiling Springs @GoMechanicsburg @GoBubblers

Mechanicsburg Junior running back Parker Sample rushed for 245 yards on 22 attempts and 4 touchdowns to carry the Wildcats to a 39-34 win over Boiling Springs in a matchup created by COVID-19 cancelations on both teams schedules.
The Wildcats rolled up 368 yards of offense, 338 on the ground. Besides Sample’s big game, QB Jeff Lougee added 60 yards, and Sage Thomas another 25 yards rushing. Both also scored rushing touchdowns.
Boiling Springs was much more balanced on offense, with 172 yards passing and 144 yards rushing. Quarterback Colin Lunde threw for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running backs Joseph Menke and Aidan Metzger totaled 126 yards rushing. Menke scored two touchdowns and Metzger added another.
The turning point of the game came in the fourth quarter when Mechanicsburg’s Seth Brubaker blocked a punt that was recovered on the two yard line, leading to an easy score on the next play by Sample.
