Schuylkill Valley triumphant on Homecoming Night in Leesport over Pequea Valley through the air and on the ground led by quarterback Alex Aletras !
I can’t say enough how great the weather has been this football season thus far and last night didn’t disappoint. Neither did the home team on this Friday evening using a balanced offensive attack that kept the Pequea Valley Braves pedaling backwards for most of the night.
Schuylkill Valley showed their size and strength defensively on the Braves first drive forcing them into a 3 and out. The Panthers scored on their first drive going 51 yards on 8 plays that ran the clock down to just under 5 minutes in the first quarter leading 7 to 0 when RB-Brandon Pyle, who ended the night with over 100 yards on the ground, busted through the defensive line for 5 yards.
First score of the game comes from @SVPantherFB , following a huge 46 yards pass play, the Panthers punch it in from 4 yards out to lead 7 to 0 with 4:57 to go in the first quarter, @PVbraves fumbles the ensuing kickoff, Panthers recover at the 23 of PV ! @PaFootballNews pic.twitter.com/lJ83RUDMwy

On the ensuing kickoff, the Braves fumbled and was recovered by the Panthers deep in Pequea Valley territory at the 23. On the next play, wide receiver Daly Becht hauled in a beautiful pass from Junior QB-Alex Aletras for 23 yards and the score to put the Panthers up 14 to 0 with 3:49 still to go in the first quarter. His first of three touchdown passes on the evening. The Braves responded quickly, keeping their heads straight, not getting down on themselves scoring on their next possession on 3 plays with a Power formation, giving the ball to RB-LeBran Woods and taking it to the house for 62 yards, the failed PAT had the Panthers leading 14 to 6 with 2:21 still to go in the first.
Pequea Valley kept momentum going on the Panthers next possession when CB/QB-Anthony Stoltzfus picked off the Aletras pass giving the Braves life at midfield closing out the opening quarter shortly after. The Braves drive stalled following a huge sack by Nathan Kier for a loss of 13 yards forcing a punt one play later.

Both teams traded possessions until a turnover on downs gave the Panthers the ball back with just over 1 minute to play in the half and on the next play, RB-Brandon Pyle, scored his second rushing touchdown of the first half when he took the hand off bounced through the middle and took off for 80 yards to the endzone to extend the Panther lead to 21 to 6. Just before the half came to a close, on a 3rd and 10 at the Braves 7, big man up front Justin Wiggins suffered an injury causing a delay in the game to which closed out the first half. Coach Mike Choi said after the game, ” it looks to be either a leg/knee, or lower back injury. ”

During halftime, a new Homecoming Queen was crowned, let’s give a big shout out to Gracie Torres, with her brother Gabriel Torres who stood proudly by her side.
Schuylkill Valley received the second half kickoff and unlike the first drive for the Panthers in the first half, this time, the drive stalled out having to punt back to the Braves. A loss of yards and a delay of game flag on Pequea forced them to punt back to the Panthers setting the games next score when Sophomore wide receiver Anthony Bautista grabbed the quick pass from Aletras from 5 yards out giving the Panthers a comfortable 27 to 6 lead with 4:37 to go in the 3rd.

Pequea Valley put together their best drive of the game closing out the quarter, into the 4th when they drove down the field 46 yards to the Panthers 22 only to fall short on a 4th and 4 pass play that went for 4 yards but not enough for the first down, turning the ball over once again to Schuylkill Valley, and the Panthers wasted no time adding to their lead when wide receiver Bautista again hauled in the short pass, only this time, he ran for 74 yards to pay dirt to give the Panthers a commanding 34 to 6 lead early in the fourth. Pequea Valley suffered their first turnover of the game when Sophomore CB-Seth Klinikowski intercepted the pass from Stoltzfus. Each team held possession once more to close out the final quarter with the score 34 to 6, Schuylkill Valley taking down a tough, Pequea Valley team that now falls to 2-3 on the season.
