Isiah Edwards on a shifty run

Friday September 27th State College Area High School played a fast Central Dauphin East team. State High managed to contain stud players such as Bryce Baker almost all game. State High wins 48-7.

State High was ready to go with the return of senior linebacker Kyle Domico, Kyle wore a massive wrap around his cast so he could play this week an option he did not have last week. Apart from a vocal leader returning on the defense, State High felt they had to prove playing in Beaver Stadium was not to big of shoes to fill.

State Highs first drive would set the tone for the game. After a short kick from CD East, State High was able to make a few small plays. Before Brady Dorner would connect with Isaiah Edwards on a 25 yard waggle play, for State Highs first touch down of the night. This started the game 7-0 just 95 seconds in. But CD East was ready to respond, after multiple small gains on CD East’s part their speedy running back Bryce Baker took an inside hand off for 40 yards and tied the game at 7-7. CD East would then try to kick shorter to one of the up man of State High. But instead Isaiah came sprinting and caught the ball, no one could catch him in stride down the center on the field, this would lead to another explosive State High touchdown from him this time from 85 yards out. This left 7:30 in the first quarter the score already being State High 14 CD East 7.

After a long time consuming drive from CD East they would punt the ball back to State High setting them up on there own 20. State high would work down to CD Easts 49. Brady would take the snap and hand the ball to none other than Isaiah Edwards who would take his own inside run all the way from the 49. State high was now up 21-7 with 2:18 left in the first quarter. CD East would get the ball back, and make a few minor plays before Isaiah Edwards would snag an interception on States 43. This INT would end the first quarter. 21-7 State High.

State High would make a few plays working towards the End Zone. They would once again find the end zone but this time it was Conrad Moore catching a perfect 12 yard out from Brady Dorner. State High now leads 28-7. After just 3 plays State high would end up with the ball once again after a INT from safety Trevor Beck. State High now has the ball back on CD East’s 43 yard line on second down Lokey Howell was handed the ball on a jet sweep he took it for 43 yards for yet another State High touch down. 35-7 State High leads with 8:33 left in the second.

CD East would go 3 and out before punting the ball back to State High, this put State on there own 17. After a few small plays Brady Dorner found tight end Nate Lusk down the field for a big gain that lead State to the red zone. Plays later Dresyn Green got involved in the scoring taking a half back sweep in from the 3. Aiden Spitlers kick would be blocked after multiple flags. This would be the final score before half, State High 41 CD East 7.

Early in the 3rd quarter a long time out was taken for an Injured CD East player that would require an Ambulance to ride onto the field, the entire State sideline was silent during this time, but would stand to give the player an ovation as he was drove off; Prayers for him and his family. The rest of the 3rd quarter was quite as it only consisted of punting from both teams. However early in the fourth Dresyn got his second of the night off a dive on the 1 yard line. State was now up 48-7 letting JV and some less played seniors finish the game. Final: State High 48 CD East 7. State high remains undefeated at 6-0.

Next week State High returns home for an extremely good Harrisburg team. This can be expected to be a huge game for both of these teams. But first State high will need to focus on practice, and filling some big gaps.
