The Susquehanna Township Indians beat the Steelton-Highspire Steam Rollers 41-20 in what could only be defined as a great game. The Indians were led by wide receivers Lex Cyrus and Jarrett Kern, as they would go on to score a combined 4 out of the 5 receiving touchdowns of the night for Susquehanna.

Susquehanna Township showcased their defensive strengths early, causing a short first possession for the Rollers. This was followed by the Indians first touchdown of the night just two plays later, caused by a 24-yard pass from QB Torin Evans to Cyrus.

The Rollers would not see themselves in this position until about 2 minutes left in the first quarter off of a 14-yard rush from Jaishawn George now making the score 7-7. With less than a minute and a half left in the quarter and Susquehanna set to receive, the Indians would score again in just one play, off of a 45-yard touchdown to Cyrus, making that his second touchdown in under three minutes.

As the second quarter began, the Indians continued their dominant streak with them recovering a fumble on the drive immediately after their second touchdown. This was then followed by another touchdown just one play later through a 64-yard bomb to wide receiver Josh Nengite, leaving Evans with three touchdown passes. It turns out this would not be the only instance of turnovers for the Rollers, as just two plays later, they would lose another fumble resulting in the Indians fourth receiving touchdown to Jarrett Kern.

This seemed to finally bring an end to Susquehanna Township’s dominant streak, as the Rollers would go on to score their second touchdown of the game off of a one-yard run from Ni’Shaun Ward-McMullen just before the second half. However, just over five minutes after halftime, the Indians showed that they would not let up, with Kern scoring his second touchdown of the night through a 30-yd catch and run, now making the score 34-14 after a missed extra point. With this most recent touchdown for the Indians, Evans would now reach 5 passing touchdowns across three different receivers before the fourth quarter.

As the two defenses battled it out for some time, the next score would come from Steeltons Jerome Ross Jr. off of a 4-yard run, now making the score 34-20 after a failed 2-point conversion attempt. The final touchdown would then be scored for Susquehanna Township by Jayden Riley from a one yard run with just a minute left in the quarter, making the final score 41-20 in favor of Susquehanna Township.

The Indians will find themselves at home next week for their homecoming game against the 2-2 Middletown Blue Raiders, while the Steam Rollers will face the 3-1 Line Mountain Eagles.
