This year’s installment of the Millersburg-Upper Dauphin rivalry showed quite a bit of firepower as the Trojans captured the victory 74-56 Friday night in Elizabethville.

Meeting for the annual installment of a rivalry that can be traced back to the year 1945, both teams were looking to get themselves back into the win column. Upper Dauphin came into this matchup after dropping a contest to Halifax the week before 41-28 while the Indians fell to Pine Grove 48-8. However, after a relatively calm first quarter, no one at Trojan Stadium was ready for the fireworks that would ensue.

Heading into the second quarter, the score line read 22-12 in favor of UDA in a normal fashion, but then the game turned up. Upper Dauphin would cash in on a fumble recovery in the second quarter to push their lead to 34-12, and in seesaw fashion the game tipped back towards Millersburg who would score 12 straight unanswered points on two of QB Aiden Harman’s 6 TD passes of the evening.

The Trojans would answer with a TD pass of their own in the closing seconds of the first half, pushing the score to 41-24 still leaning in favor of Upper Dauphin. Millersburg would receive the second half kickoff, and would immediately turn over the football via interception, which would lead to another TD for Upper Dauphin.

Following Millersburg responding with another TD toss and another score by the Trojans, Jake Ramberger would break off a 90-yard TD run and continue to inflate the lead for UDA. The Trojan defense would also join the scoring party with a pick six in the fading moments of the third quarter, pushing the lead to 67-32.

Millersburg would then find a rhythm in the fourth quarter, completing three two-point conversions, two via rushing TD’s and one from a Duke Bolton kick return. The Indians would keep UDA off the board for the final seven minutes of the contest and finish the contest with a season high in scoring.

Harman would finish with a total of 374 passing yards for the Indians, while Macklin Ayers rung up 226 yards and 2 TD passes for the Trojans. Logan Marshall lead the game in receiving yards for Millersburg with five catches for 148 yards.

Next week, Upper Dauphin will travel to Newport for a matchup with the Buffaloes, while Millersburg will return home and host the Wildcats of Halifax. Head coach Aaron Wright is still in search of his first victory at the helm for the Indians and he hopes to find it next week against their fierce rivals.

A full replay of the game is available on YouTube on CUTVSports1, and highlights will be shown on the Tuesday edition of CUTV’s High School Football Roundup show which will also be uploaded to the same YouTube channel on Tuesday.
