YORK, PA – In the YAIAA division 2 rivalry matchup, West York kept their now four-game win streak alive with a 27-2 win over York Suburban.

West York received the ball in the first quarter, and York Suburban’s Gehret Gentzyel got the defense moving after he picked off a pass from Jensen Ferber. This led the Trojans into Bulldogs territory, where the were unable to get into the endzone. Both teams punted on fourth down, and in West York’s next possession, they were able to make progress into Trojan territory. After a battle on the 1 yard line, Jensen Ferber ran it in for a touchdown. The point after was blocked, making it 6-0 with 2:35 left in the first quarter. The first quarter ended with West York up 6-0.

Then, after York Suburban turned it over on downs deep in West York territory, the Trojans defense forced Jensen Ferber down in the end zone for a safety. This would be the only time the Trojans score in the game, and with 4:28 left in the half, West York was still up 6-2. Then, near the end of the half, Jensen Ferber found Conrad Beatty, who ran it 10 yards for another West York touchdown. At the half, the Bulldogs, lead 13-2

Just 2 minutes into the second half, Jensen Ferber once again found a Bulldog downfield, with a pass to Julius Madden who ran it 70 yards for a touchdown. The point after was good, making it 20-2 with 10 minutes left in the third. Once again, York Suburban had multiple opportunities to put points on the board, but were unable to complete a pass or run into the endzone. The third quarter ended with West York up 20-2.

It was still West York’s game in the fourth quarter, and Jensen Ferber tallied another passing touchdown after a 33 yard pass to Janziel Torres, putting the bulldogs up 27-2. In all, Jensen Ferber recorded three passing touchdowns and one rushing, while giving up a safety. In the end, West York beat York Suburban 27-2.

Compared to their last three wins, which were both over forty points, the Trojans defense was able to hold back the full potential of West York, however, they were not able to get it done on offense. Next week, West York plays at Kennard-Dale in a division 2 matchup, while York Suburban hosts division powerhouse New Oxford in their homecoming game.
