Wilson Head Coach Doug Dahms talking to his team after a 40-6 win on Friday Night after Penn Manor

Wilson came into the game against Penn Manor on a 2 game losing streak and with a 2-3 record. Wilson left the game with a 40-6 win over Penn Manor Friday Night. In typical Wilson fashion, they dominated both lines of scrimmages, on both sides the ball and special teams as well. Head Coach Doug Dahms on the victory “The non-league play is over. Like I told the guys everyone in section 1 is 0-0. We got some things to get better at, but it was a step up to go 1-0”.

Wilson opened the scoring after Penn Manor fumbled on their 2nd play from scrimmage when Brad Hoffman hit TJ Flite with an 18-yard touchdown pass. Jayden Jones then chipped in a pair of 1-yard rushing touchdowns and Wilson took control with a 19-0.  Penn Manor also could not muster much offense on the night as the Wilson Defense harassed QB Eli Warfel and the Penn Manor run game. Wilson’s defense held Penn Manor to 16-yards rushing on the night.

The backbreaker though for Penn Manor was when Cameron Jones returned a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown with just 30 seconds left in the half. A lead Wilson would never relinquish. Jayden Jones on the punt return “I take pride on special teams because I don’t play a lot of Wide Receiver, so this is my opportunity to shine”. Dahms on Jones “He is a threat to return every time. We are trying to get our return team to buy in because this is a scoring play “. Jones also said that Wilson puts an emphasis on Special Teams. This is what Jones said, “Dahms does a great job with special teams and it’s a 3rd part of the game. We actually do a lot of special teams during the week”.

A big part of this game was the return of running back Jayden Jones since he missed last week’s game. He paced the Wilson offense with 157 yards rushing including rushes of 61 and 68 yards. Dahms said this about his running back “Obviously getting Jayden Jones back is big. He sets the tone for our offense”. Jones on the win “Obviously I didn’t play last week, so I knew we had to bounce back this week”.

Penn Manor came into the game 4-1 for the first time since 2014, but couldn’t muster much of a defense to Wilson. Penn Manor is still a much-improved team and program, so they will bounce back, but Wilson once again continues to dominate this series. Wilson has now gone 30-0 against Penn Manor in their history against each other.

Wilson has not had a losing season since 1963 and is now improved to 3-3 on the year. Dahms on starting 2-3 on the year.  “Certainly a brutal non-league schedule, we just kept preaching to the guys to keep believing”.  Wilson will still have a good chance to win Section 1 of the Lancaster Lebanon League. Coach Dahms kept it simple for their team this week “1 play and 1 week at a time”. Running back Jayden Jones echoed that statement as well “One play at a time. Make sure we go to the next play if we make a mistake”.
