Fairfield knew they had to get a spark quick against a tough Windber team that outmanned them 3-1. With 17 players dressed, you need a spark. On the opening kick they attempted an onside kick but the Ramblers snuffed out the spark by recovering the kick at the 47. John Shuster then lit a fire for WIndber with a 23 yard td run early in the first quarter. Windber never looked back, cruising to a 57-0 win in the Peach Bowl at Chambersburg.

“We got off to a fast start. It’s a great day here and we appreciate the opportunity given to us. Shusters workload was a little smaller than he’ll see all year but after losing all those skill guys last year it’s a great start for us.”
Shuster found the endzone again on the next Rambler series from ten yards out. In their defense, the Knights did have a few bright spots. Quarterback Wyatt Kuhn was 5-5 in the first half, but the heavy pressure from the Windber defense was just too much for the Knights to overcome.
Windber scored on every drive in the first half, jumping out to a 35-0 lead to invoke the running clock in the second half.
With the score 14-0 in the second quarter, a Fairfield turnover on the kick led to a 3 yard td run by Luke Hostetler.

The Ramblers defense then began their assault and forced a Knights punt. It took just one play, a 65 yard run by Colin Marx, to basically to the game away. Shuster scored from the 34 to make it a 35-0 lead at the half.
For the game, Windber rushed for 392 yards with Shuster gaining 140 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries.
