World Wrestling Champion Trent Hidlay was the special guest for the coin toss Friday night at Mifflin County’s brand new and beautiful stadium where the Huskies hosted Palmyra. If you want to count that as one of the highlights of the night, well, it was one of three or four. The Huskies topped the Cougars in a penalty laden contest that had fans waiting nearly three whole quarters for the game to actually start.
The first half, which ended with the teams tied at 0, was off the a decent start for the Huskies as they drove to the Palmyra 9 but Chase Hartung was picked off in the endzone ending what would be either teams best drive of the first half. Every time one of these teams would start to advance the rock, they’d either commit a penalty or get tackle for a loss. Ironically, it was a penalty that aided the Miffco td. A roughing the passer call against Palmyra gave the Huskies the ball on the Cougar 20. From there Jaxson Strohecker went down the sideline and dove in for the score with 4:30 left in the third. Reese Christine hit Dodger Weaver for the two pointer.

On the ensuing possession, Palmyras Travis McDannell busted loose on the first play and scampered down the sidelines for an 80 yard td. they didn’t get the two pointer and that was pretty much the end of the highlights for this game. The Huskies did pick off a Palmyra pass and return it to the endzone but that play was called back on a targeting call. From the Cougar nine, the Huskies went backwards 40 yards before punting away their only other close chance to score.
All told there was over 325 yards in penalties. Palmyra barely outgained their flags with 214 yards of offense and 182 yards in penalties. Mifflin County moves to 3-3 and Palmyra drops to 2-4.
