York Suburban defeated Kennard-Dale 31-13 to get their first win in the past 4 weeks. Going into the game, both teams were 2-5 and had struggled for the past couple of games.

Going into the first quarter, York Suburban was able to stop Kennard-Dale’s drive and the Trojan’s Cj Rissmiller was able to find the back of the endzone for his first of the night. Taza Sweeney was also able to score off of a 60-yard rushing touchdown to put the Trojans up 14-0 before the end of the first quarter.

The Trojan’s intensity fell apart during the second quarter and they allowed Kennard-Dale’s Hayden Klimm to score and cut the Trojan’s lead to 7. After this, neither team was able to score and the first half ended 14-7.

Much like last quarter, the Trojans were again not able to produce on offense and their defense let Kennard-Dale’s Desmond Warne run into the endzone, however, the extra point was blocked to allow York Suburban to maintain the lead 14-13.

In the fourth quarter, York Suburban pulled away from the Rams, which started with a 33-yard field goal by Damien Yepez at 12 minutes left in the game. Later in the quarter, Cj Rissmiller got his second TD to put them up 24-13, and after an interception caught by Aiden Lubadika, Cj was able to get his third and final touchdown of the game to expand their lead to 31-13.

Taza Sweeney and Cj Rissmiller, both sophomores for York Suburban, had outstanding games and were able to find gaps in the Ram’s defense. Donovan Alicea also had a good performance and would have had a touchdown if there was not a penalty on the play. With the win, York Suburban advances to 3-5 and travels to Wrightsville to play Eastern, while Kennard-Dale falls to 2-6 and travels to Dover next week. With this win, the Trojan’s hope to win the next 2 games and end the season 5-5 and reach .500 for the second time this year.
