
York Tech 3 steps behind Delone Catholic

Spartan field was the venue on a warm Saturday game between Delone Catholic and York Tech, but the Spartans were not warm as the heat. Give them credit when credit is due, they never gave up and played with heart from the first snap to the last, but it was the Squires who heated up the scoreboard.
Delone Catholic received the opening kickoff and started at their 11-yard line. After small yardage on two running plays, they went to the air. Denver Ostrum connected to Gage Zimmerman for a catch and run for 60 yards. The very next play Zach Staub tossed a bullet to Landon Smith for a 25-yard TD ten minutes left in the 1st quarter.
York Tech received the kickoff at their own 32 and went on a long drive, running the ball down to the 18, however, three plays later they fumbled the ball and Delone recovered.
From their own 29-yard line Delone went to work running the ball, amassing 61 yards rushing and 10 passing yards before scoring again with 3:33 remaining in the 1st quarter. The Spartans never managed to get rolling in the first half and the score remained 14-0 at the break.
York Tech received the 2nd half kickoff at their 14, but couldn’t move the ball going three and out. Delone started at York Tech 43, the drive had Denver Ostrum throw a 28-yard pass to the 9-yard line. then Ryder Noel took it the house from 9 yards out for the TD, 9:27 2nd quarter. Delone continued their dominance over York Tech. With the ball at their own 21, the big play happens again with a Brady Dettinburn scorching run of 40 yards for the TD
York Tech and their never say die commitment got the ball at their own 40-yard line and went on a 6 play, 60 yard drive to get on the board at 6:15 of the 3rd quarter. Delone their dominance of the Spartans. Starting at their 6-yard line, they rushed six times and passed twice covering 84 yardson their way to another score
On their next drive, York Tech got the ball at the Delone 38 and Trenton Nafe ran by all defenders for a 38 yard TD. Delone countered with a 3 play drive capped off by a Gage Zimmerman 24 yard rushing TD, 5:34 of the 4th quarter. The Spartans in turn countered that with a 7 play 59 yard TD drive.
