Last season the NTL Small School Division crown was captured by the Muncy Indians, who went 7-0 and 10-2 overall on the year before falling to Canton in the District 4 Class A championships.

2021 Final Standings

Muncy 7-0, 10-2 (overall)
South Williamsport 6-3, 7-4 (overall)
Cowanesque Valley 5-3, 6-4 (overall)
Montgomery 3-5, 5-6 (overall)
Sayre 4-5, 5-6 (overall)*
Northwest Area 2-5, 3-6 (overall)
CMVT 0-7, 0-9 (overall)

* – Sayre will not field a varsity football in 2022

Muncy Indians

Head Coach: Sean Tetreault

Returning Starters: Branson Eyer, Ross Eyer, Elijah Weikle

Key Starters Lost: Ty Nixon, Bailey Hadzinikolov

Season Outlook: Turnovers and injuries down the stretch cost the Indians a shot at a District IV Class A championship. The loss of Ty Nixon in the backfield hurts but on thing the Indians to well is reload. Look forward to big season from both Branson and Ross Eyer and for them to vie again for a district championship again in 2022.

South Williamsport Mountaineers

Head Coach: Chris Eiswerth

Key Starters Lost: Grant Bachman, Landon Lorson, Jake Casella, Lane Lusk, Clayton Swarthout

Season Outlook: The Mounties will have to find a way to replace over 2,300 rushing yards after Lusk and Swarthout graduated in addition to losing Lorson at QB. South Williamsport does have a favorable opening schedule and could realistically go 4-0 before a week 4 matchup with Canton on September 24. If the Mounties can stay healthy down the stretch they’ll be playoff bound.

Cowanesque Valley Indians

Head Coach: Joe Leonard

Assistant Coaches: Jacob Lane, Matt Sattolano, Tuck Hess, Chuck Harlow

Returning Starters: Aspyn Dennis, Carter Ackley, Ean Bump, Tim Freeman, Fletcher Good, Graham Hess

Key Newcomers: Sawyer Douglas, Will Walters, Tanner Robbins, Pete Wendell

Key Starters Lost: Tucker St. Peter, Jake Schmitt, Elliott Good, Tanyon Brown, Kade Sottolano, Mikey Sipps, Miche Robbins

Season Outlook: “We want to build on the momentum of the last season and continue the culture of success for the players and community.”

Montgomery Red Raiders

Head Coach: Christian Diggs

Key Starters Lost: Logan Almeida, Tanner Springman, Devon Deem, Thayden Miller, Coltin Hans

Season Outlook: The Red Raiders qualified for the District IV Class A playoffs for the first time last year under 1st year head coach Christian Diggs since the 2017 season and took South Williamsport down the wire to finish with a 5-win season. While Diggs will have to replace starting QB Almeida, the Red Raiders do return a nice crop of younger players with Varsity experience. Baring injuries, look for the Red Raiders to return to post-season play in District IV.

Northwest Area Rangers

Head Coach: Carl Majer

Assistant Coaches: John McDaniel, Leigh Bonczewski, Mike Delberto, Paul Hufford, Will Miller, Sam Gmiter

Returning Starters: Landon Hufford, Tristan Lepore, Carter Hontz, Jake Bobersty, William Miller

Key Newcomers: Mason Cope, Buzz Sorber, Hickory Bonham

Key Starters Lost: Chase Biller, Liam Reinard, James Sorber

Season Outlook: “I’m excited to see new coaching staff and how the team comes together as a whole. I’m optimistic about the upcoming season.”

CMVT Rams

Head Coach: Mark Varner

Assistant Coaches: Jason Shotwell, Jim Dunn, Mark Barnes, Chris Long, Kerry Parks

Returning Starters: Shane Tomlinson, Caden Long, Tommy Bond, Hunter Trometter, Toby Zajac, Jacob Davenport, Zach Wands, Riley Temple, Billy Miller

Key Newcomers: Aston Smith, Chase Koncsler

Key Starters Lost: Dante DiAgostino, Drew Gordner, Cody Welliver, Justin Adams

Season Outlook: “With 11 seniors on the team, we are looking at one of the most experienced teams I’ve had in some time. We are looking to improve over the last couple seasons.”
