Coach says: “He’s a beast! Sam is going to be one heck of a football player for us. He’s having a great offseason. Very coachable. People better look out for this guy. He’s a tough one.

Let’s get to know Samuel!!

Why do you play football?

I play football because I love the sport and hitting people over and over again is the best part.

It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?

I’m looking forward to going out on the field listening to the fans and the band. Then winning the game of course.

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

My favorite sports star is former Steelers legend James Harrison. He was an absolute beast when he played and his mentality was like no other. Even though he was undersized that just made him work even harder than anyone else.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:

My favorite play has to be when I got an interception against Loyalsock. My former teammate Chase Miller ran down the quarterback like a maniac and the quarterback threw up the ball. I dove for it and caught it.

What was last years season like for you?

Last years season was really good. As a team we made state semi-finals which was the farthest any Danville program has gone. For me I had the opportunity to start all 15 games we played and I didn’t make my coaches regret that at all.

What are your goals for this coming season?

I want our team to make it to the state championship game. I know that’s a stretch and everyone is doubting us but I believe in the group of guys we have and I will fight to the end with them. This is a big year for me and I’m striving to become a first team all-state offensive lineman. That’s my biggest goal.

Who is the best player you ever lined up against?

It has to be Bryer Reichard from Northwestern Leigh. I had to play tackle in that game and he made my job a nightmare with his big frame and strength.

When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?

I would want Chip Kelly to be calling in the play because his play calling for OSU last year was amazing.

What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?

I would love to visit SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. That stadium is so new and beautiful.

What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?

My favorite Pro team has to be the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have always loved watching them.

What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?

OSU vs. PSU 2017 that game was close all the way through. I still wish Penn State won that game.

What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?

The sports movie I would pick would be “The Blind Side” because that movie was so inspirational. A homeless kid on the street to becoming a great NFL tackle might be one of the best motivating stories I’ve ever heard.

If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?

My mom would yell, “Sammmmmmy!!!” and my dad would yell, “Sammy let’s gooo!!”

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?

I would love to play a whole game at quarterback to see what it’s like since I’m the one usually protecting them.

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?

My mentor is my mom because she is always true to herself and doesn’t put up with anyone. She always wants the best for me and leads me on the right path for everything. Without my mom I don’t think I could succeed as much as I am right now.

Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:

I would love to play badminton because I love to slam the birdie to the other side. If football didn’t exist you would see me go pro in badminton.

What is your most embarrassing sports moment?

The most embarrassing sports moment had to be when my basketball team lined up on the wrong side for an inbound play and the other team had the easiest layup of all time.

Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?

I would have to say my grandfather because he’s very proud of how far I’ve come and always excited to watch me play.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

It would have to be playing video games, especially some college football 25.

What is your favorite football memory to date?

I think my favorite football memory to date was when we won the district 4 title game against Lewisburg. That night was special especially when our coaches handed us our medals.

What is your favorite play to run?

It would have to be any inside zone run. The blocking scheme is complex since you don’t know where the ball carrier is gonna go so you find the closest man and block him.

What scares you the most?

I would have to say spiders because just look at them who wouldn’t be scared of something that has 8 legs and many eyes.

Music of choice:

My music choice is some good RnB.

What was your favorite gift as a little boy? Why?

My favorite gift as a little boy has to be getting football cards because I loved the thrill of not knowing if I was gonna get something good or bad.

What restaurant is your go to when you need a big meal?

I would have to go with Apple bee’s all you can eat boneless wings or a Chinese buffet. Those places are a great way to bulk up.

What is your favorite vacation destination?

My favorite vacation destination is Ocean City, Maryland because there’s always something to do there and I just love the beach.

Do you remember what the first football game you saw was?

The first football games I’ve watched had to be Steeler’s Killer Bees with Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell.
