Coach Says: Ben is a very versatile player for us. He was injured last season during our final regular season game and has worked very hard to rehab and get ready for the season. He has been a very blue collar worker in our weight room. He continues to get stronger on a daily basis. He is a tremendous young man who always puts the team before himself as he started in 4 different positions during last season.
Why do you play football?
I think the reason I play football because I enjoy being with my friends and being part of a team. I love the support we get from our community, and I enjoy the competitive nature of the sport. Working hard and winning is the reward for me and makes it all around exciting.
It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m most looking forward to the first drive of the first quarter on defense or offense. It’s a time that sets the tone for the rest of the game, so our team is the most fired up and ready to go.
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
I’d probably say T.J. Watt. He plays a similar position to me on my favorite team the Steelers so I’ve looked up to him and try to model my game after him.
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
Yes for sure, during my last game before my season ending injury my sophomore year, I jumped up to bat a ball as a defensive end and ended up catching it and braking a tackle before I took it for a pick 6.
What was last years season like for you?
Last years season was a pretty good year. It was my first year playing varsity full time and I feel like I played a pretty decent season. Although we had a rough season and it ended for me with my injury our team played hard and fought through the season together.
What are your goals for this coming season?
My goals for this up coming season are to stay healthy, perform to the best of my ability and do whatever I can do help my team be successful.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
I’m not sure.
When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?
I feel like the obvious answer here is Bill Belichick. Although he did have Tom Brady, those 6 super bowls don’t happen without a great coach. So with all the close games and tough opponents Coach Belichick has to be my pick to call a play with the game in the line.
What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?
I feel like I have been blessed enough to visit all the stadiums I would like to see already. I have been to multiple Steelers and Penn state games which are the two that I would say I would love to visit.
What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?
Pittsburgh Steelers
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
My favorite game I’ve ever watched was our game (Danville) beating Shikellamy in my sophomore year when I watched it from the hospital after breaking my ankle.
What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?
I would pick football because it is the most action packed and I understand the most.
If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?
Normally my parents will not yell from the stand but if they are they are just cheering for me or my teammates.
Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?
I would love to go to a good D1 program and have a fair chance to fight for a spot and get a good education out of going to college.
Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?
My mentor I would say is my dad. He works hard in everything he does and always seems to stay positive and help everyone he can.
Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:
I would like to try volleyball. I feel like I could take advantage of my hight and athleticism.
If you could only drive one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would drive a nice ford truck of some sort.
When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?
My go to activity is hunting or fishing.
What is your favorite football memory to date?
My pick 6 in my last game sophomore year.

Anything that could cause me to stop doing what I love. Or loosing someone I love.
