Coach Says: Ben missed the majority of his freshman season due to injury. Last year, as a sophomore he started as a DB for us. We are expecting him to be a bigger contributor for us this season on both sides of the ball. He has been in the weight room since last season ended as has gotten significantly bigger and stronger. We look forward to a big junior season for Ben.
Why do you play football?
I play football to be able to go out on the field every day and do something I love aswell as the relationships that football gives you, I also play football to build me into being a better man through hard times.
It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to stepping on the field and feeling the adrenaline rush while getting to go perform to the best of my abilities with my brothers on the field.
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
My favorite sport star is isiah pacheco because although he faced many challenges while growing up he persevered into becoming a a NFL running back.
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
I don’t really have one specific play, but if I could think of one game that I won’t forget it would be Danville vs Shikelimy and seeing our team overcome adversity and win the game.
What was last years season like for you?
Last year there were a lot of ups and downs but I believe that has only shaped me to go out there this year on Friday nights and dominate on the field every chance that I get.
What are your goals for this coming season?
My goals are for my team to not worry about who we are playing and just go out there and play to the best of your abilities and to win a state championship.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
I believe the best player I ever lined up against is myself because you are your biggest critic and once you are able to push past what your mind tells you is the most is when you grow as an athlete.
When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?
I Would say Nick Saban because he was a great coach and knew how to shape kids into men and built strong relationships with his players.
What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?
I would love to visit LSU.
What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?
I watch mostly college football so I would say that LSU is my favorite football team to watch.
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
My favorite game o ever watched was Penn State Vs Michigan when the crown was so loud in beaver stadium that Michigan had to call a timeout.
What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?
My favorite sports movie is Friday Night lights because it is inspiring to me to play to the best of my abilities.
If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?
They are usually yelling to keep playing hard and don’t give up
Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?
I would love to be able to play with all my brothers on the field after high school.
Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?
My mentor is my father because everyday he pushes me to be a better person and if I do anything it should be done the correct way.
Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:
Football is the main sport that I have always been focused on.
What is your most embarrassing sports moment?
If you could only drive one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If I could drive one car for the rest of my life it would be a Ram TRX because they are a truck and they have a very large engine.
When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?
My go to activity is usually swimming because it helps build muscles that you don’t usually work and it helps me cool down.
What is your favorite football memory to date?
My favorite football memory ever is my first day getting to highschool football and it seeming like junior year was so far but it really wasn’t.
What is your favorite play to run?
My favorite play to run was verticals because it is awlays amazing for you or your teamates to catch a deep bom and score a touchdown.
What scares you the most?
What scares me the most is when a teammate gets injured and you aren’t able to help them.
Music of choice:
Country music.
What is the most food you ever ate in one sitting?
I’m not sure I usually eat everything on my plate every time I eat.
What restaurant is your go to when you need a big meal?
My go to resturaunt is longhorns steak house.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
My favorite vacation destination would be Saint Maarten because it has beautiful beaches and is very safe.
Do you remember what the first football game you saw was?
Yes the first football game I ever saw I was a waterboy for the Danville Ironmen when I was very little and it was an amazing experience
